Bhatkal, Sep 3: A local leader of Sri Ram Sena, accused of indulging in anti-social activities, has been exiled from the coastal district of Uttara Kannada for three months.

jayantUttara Kannada deputy commissioner SS Nukul on Saturday passed the order prohibiting Jayant Naika, son of Govinda Naika, a resident of Mavalli in Murudeshwar from staying in the district for next three months.

In fact the district police had requested the district administration to exile him in order to prevent him from indulging in anti-social activities and disrupting peace in the region.

As soon as the banishment order was issued, the police took him to custody and took him towards Hubballi border, sources said.

It is learnt that Jayant is planning to challenge the banishment order in high court. However, he will not be able to appeal to high court till Tuesday due to two consecutive holidays on Sunday and Monday.

If the high court upholds the decision of the deputy commissioner, the Sri Ram Sena leader will not be allowed to return to the district till December 3 this year. If he violates the banishment order, he will be arrested by the police.

I think this is the best way police can do. Whoever do mischief and creating problem in their town should throw them to other state for 5 years. Istead of putting them in Jail.

They not allowed visit their family upto 5 years. Then they knows the values of human being.

Good Move... The authorities should recognize the trouble makers and give harsh punishment so that the society will be peaceful...
There are many authorities who wear bangles and fear the cheddis. its time to know that cheddis evil power are diminishing day by day and there is no need to worry and live in fear.

The authoriites should do their jobs without fearing the consequences... Do good to the society ... God's help come when our intention is right.

Bengaluru, Feb 2: The monthlong budget session beginning on Monday, which will mark BS Yediyurappa’s maiden budget in his fourth term as chief minister, is expected to be a fiery one.

The opposition JD(S) and Congress have already threatened to stall proceeding until BJP legislator Basangouda Patil Yatnal apologises for his controversial remarks against freedom fighter and centenarian HS Doreswamy. Yatnal had called him a fake and a Pakistani agent.

Disruptions are also likely to pose a threat to speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri’s novel idea of having a two-day discussion on the Constitution of India to commemorate 70 years of the country’s Independence.

Both opposition parties have scheduled legislature party meetings early on Monday and they could coordinate on issues on the floor of the house to put the BJP — especially Yediyurappa — on the backfoot.

Yatnal is not known as a “hardliner”, but his attack on Doreswamy has garnered support from several ministers including CT Ravi, KS Eshwarappa and V Somanna. Yediyurappa may have a hard time defending his party’s line.

The BJP is yet to schedule its legislature party meeting, but MLAs suggest the party will allow the issue to be raised and debated in the legislature. “Both have expressed their point of view. Let there be a discussion on the matter, but not allowing the house to function will only be a waste of the state’s time and money,” said deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan.

Besides the Doreswamy issue, Yediyurappa will also deliver his reply — postponed from February 20 — to the debate on the governor’s address. The issue of student Amulya Leona Narona’s arrest on a charge of sedition, the Bidar sedition case involving a parent of a school student, pro-Pakistan writings on walls in places in north Karnataka, introduction of NPR and the anti-CAA stir is also likely to feature during the lengthy session.

Bengaluru, Jul 16: Aiming to forge a citizen-government partnership in combating the Covid pandemic, the Karnataka government is seeking plasma donations from survivors for a token appreciation of Rs 5,000, a minister said on Wednesday.

"I request all those who have recovered from Covid-19 to donate plasma and save lives. As a token of our appreciation, we will give Rs 5,000 to patients who come forward and donate their plasma," said Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar.

He said the battle against the pandemic can only be won through citizen-government partnership.

On Wednesday, Covid cases swelled by 1,975 infections in Bengaluru, ground zero for the pandemic in the southern state, raising its total number of cases to 22,944, out of which 17,051 are active.

In the past 24 hours, the state as a whole registered a record 3,176 cases, raising Karnataka's tally to 47,253, even as 87 people succumbed to the virus.
