Udupi, Oct 15: Congress leader and Udupi district-in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj has taunted the hardcore vegetarians in India by reminding them that most worshipped religious figures of Indian Hindus were non-vegetarians.

Speaking after inaugurating the Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti celebrations organised by the Udupi district administration here on Saturday, he said that Sri Rama and Sri Krishna had consumed meat. Valiki, the one who wrote Ramayana was also a non-vegetarian, he added.

Mr Madhwaraj, who is also the minister for fisheries, sports and youth affairs in Karnataka, said that those who engaged in a serious debate over food habits of the people in the country should not ignore these facts.

There are a significant number of passages in Valmiki Ramayana where the principal characters used meat in their religious rites and daily diet, he said.

Taking a dig at casteism, Mr Madhwaraj, who belongs to Mogaveera community, said that those who consider themselves supreme and look down upon other castes do not possess the knowledge of sacred scriptures.

Dear YOGESH...

Please carefully read the below verse from BG and ponder on it. Also REFLECT on y BG mentioned this here.
Bhagavad Gita 7:20
Those whose INTELLIGENCE has been stolen by MATERIAL DESIRES surrender onto Demigods (Besides TRUE GOD) and follow the particular rules and regulations of WORSHIP according to their own natures...

I think U should not worship the idols and statues instead worship the TRUE GOD who is formless (NA TASYA PRATIMA ASTI). This is the TRUTH and U should follow the BG on this too...

Less intelligent people always want to imitate God and there activities without knowing the proper fact and reason behind the activities.
Like lord Shiva once consumed POISON. Can any ordinary human do this ,No. So we should not try to imitate God. But We should always follow the instructions given by them. God has given enough instructions through his word in BHAGAVAD Gita and other scripture. Where he instructed to offer him only four type of eatable things i.e. Leaf, Flower, Fruit and water and consume it. This is why, we should always try to follow God's instructions carefully rather than imitating his activity.

Sita kidnapped When laxman was busy in hunting deer for their lunch. This story clearly tells about their love for meat.

Beijing, Feb 21: A 29-year-old Chinese doctor, who postponed his wedding to treat patients infected with the deadly coronavirus, has died treating them after being infected by the virus, the ninth fatality among the healthcare providers working to contain the outbreak.

Dr Peng Yinhua, doctor of a Wuhan hospital who treated patients infected with the coronavirus, died on Thursday night, according to the health bureau.

Peng, a respiratory acute care medical professional, became infected while working to combat the novel coronavirus at the First People's Hospital of Jiangxia District of Wuhan. He was hospitalised on January 25 and transferred to the Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital for treatment on January 30.

"Peng Yinhua, a frontline doctor at Jiangxia First Hospital in virus epicenter #Wuhan, died of #COVID19 on Thursday night. He had earlier delayed his wedding as he wanted to treat patients with the disease at hospital," state-run Global Times tweeted on Friday.

He died from the virus despite doctors' all-out efforts to save his life.

Chinese health authorities have asked health agencies to apply for the honour of martyr for deceased medical staff to the veteran's affairs authorities, comfort the families of the deceased and help solve their difficulties, as well as publicise stories of those who sacrificed their lives during the epidemic, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Li Wenliang, the 34-year-old Chinese doctor, who was one of the first people to sound the alarm about the new outbreak died on February 7.

Li sent a message to his medical-school alumni group on December 30, warning that seven patients had been quarantined at Wuhan Central Hospital after coming down with a respiratory illness that seemed like the SARS coronavirus. But Wuhan police reprimanded and silenced Li.

Earlier, Dr Liu Zhiming, head of the Wuchang Hospital died due to the virus. On the same day Liu Fan, senior nurse of the hospital, died along with her parents and brother due to the virus.

China’s National Health Commission earlier said that a total of 1,716 medical workers had contracted the infection as of February 11.

Peng's death takes the death toll among the medical staff to nine.

New Delhi, Apr 26: The Centre will bring back the Indian citizens stranded abroad due to the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft, only if the respective states they belong to agree to allow them to come back home and make necessary arrangements to quarantine them after their return.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has started consultations with the State Governments on bringing back the Indians, who got stranded in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada and many other foreign countries due to the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft to any airport in the country. The decision on facilitating their return to the country would be taken after getting feedback on preparedness of the States and the Union Territory to receive them following all required health precautions, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba said.

Gauba on Saturday had a video-conference with the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories to review the implementation of the restrictions on travel and transport as well as the lockdown imposed across the country to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though the Government earlier either evacuated or facilitated the return of nearly 28000 Indians from a number of foreign countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it almost stopped doing so after the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft was enforced on March 23 in the wake of the spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases in India.

Thousands of Indian students, tourists, professionals and others are stranded around the world, including in the countries, where respective governments had imposed lockdowns to contain the pandemic. They have been desperately requesting the government on social media to evacuate them.
