S.S Rajamouli 'Bahubali' a big story, couldn't put it in one film

March 17, 2017

Mar 17: The mystery behind 'why Kattappa killed Bahubali?' will unfold when S S Rajamouli's 'Bahubali 2: The Conclusion' next month but the director says he enjoyed the fan theories related to the cliffhanger.

bahubali"I had only one theory for 'why Kattappa killed Bahubali?'. But people had lot of theories," Rajamouli said at the trailer launch of the film's Hindi version last evening.

The National Award-winning director was not under any pressure while making the movie's second part, which releases on April 28.

"The amount of trolls you get are promotional to the craze for the film. Whether good or bad... however people discuss it, it shows that your film has made an impact. It doesn't create pressure, it gives me confidence that so many people are going to watch the second part. It guarantees me an opening."

Rajamouli said he did not make any changes in the story after the huge success of "Bahubali: The Beginning" but worked extensively to make action and visual effects better.

"It's a single story from the beginning to end. It's one big story, so we couldn't put it together in one film. The story and the characterisation was all there. After the success of the action sequences in the first part, we elaborated it in part two.

"We put additional efforts on VFX, the producers spent more money on it. As far as the story is concerned nothing has changed."

The most difficult thing for Rajamouli while making both the parts of 'Bahubali' was to keep the interest of the cast and crew intact through the five-year period.

While the film's story will come to an end with "Bahubali 2: The Conclusion", the makers have plans to come up with comics and novels on the character for the fans.

"I am a selfish man, I want my films to do well. But it is not good to stretch it. But the world of 'Bahubali' will not end, it will continue through comics, novels, virtual reality world, television series or animation for the fans to rejoice," Rajamouli said.

The 'Eega' helmer said a story should be the driving force to turn a film into a franchise and not because there is a market for it.

Produced by ARKA Entertainment, 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' stars Prabhas in the titular role in addition to Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Satyaraj in pivotal roles.
