SSLC exam: Girl collapses while attempting science paper, dies

Vijayapura, Apr 3: A Class 10 girl student died after she collapsed at an SSLC examination centre in Indi town of Vijayapura district yesterday.

The family members of the girl alleged that denial of timely treatment by the Indi taluk hospital led to her death.

Sanjeevini Jadhav, from Indi Railway Station area, was writing the Science exam at Adarsha Vidyalay in Indi when she fell unconscious. “She began to bleed from the nose,” said a witness.

The block education officer rushed Sanjeevini to Indi taluk hospital in his vehicle. Her family alleged doctors there did not respond positively or quickly. She breathed last while being shifted to Vijayapura district hospital.

Mosques in Karnataka lead fight against Corona; caution through loudspeakers four times a day

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Mosques across Karnataka are now turning into centers to create awareness against deadly coronavirus that cause Covid-19.

The state government's board of auqaf has issued a notification to the administrations of all mosques to use their loud speakers to create awareness against the virus.

All the mosques in the state have already suspended congregational prayers to prevent the spread of the virus.

As per the decision of the state board of auqaf, now all mosques have to play the audio clips that creates awareness against the virus in three languages.

The clips will be played at 10 a.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. everyday.

Flight operation affected at Mangaluru Airport due to thick fog

Mangaluru, Feb 15: Dense fog formation and poor visibility at the runway forced to delay and diversions of some flights arriving and take off at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday.

Flights take off and landings were suspended from 0700 hours am to 1030 hours.

Many flights to land in the morning were diverted.

I was not in the car which met accident, says Mohammed Nalapad

Bengaluru, Feb 12: Mohammed Nalapad, son of Karnataka Congress MLA NA Harris, who allegedly rammed his sports car into vehicles and a kiosk, injuring 4, on Bellary road in Bengaluru on February 9, said that he was not in the car which met with the accident.

Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Ravikante Gowda told media, "Mohammed Nalapad appeared before the investigating officer today. He was arrested following interrogation. We are collecting evidence and will file a charge sheet shortly."

Nalapad is out on bail, in connection with the matter where he had assaulted a man in a pub in Bengaluru in 2018.

"I was not in the car which met with accident. I was travelling in a Lamborghini car which was moving ahead of the car. However, I called people to rescue the victims. We took them to the hospital and paid their hospital bill," said Mohammed Nalapad.
