Stabbing recurs in Konaje; Muslim lorry driver targeted

Mangaluru, Dec 2: A motorbike-borne miscreant on Monday brutally stabbed a man at Kalkatta near Konaje in Mangaluru taluk.

stabThe injured has been identified as Mohammed Rafeeq, a resident of Kallarakodi, who is a lorry driver by profession.

According to sources, the assailant fled the spot after stabbing Rafeeq. A severely injured Rafeeq is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Deralakatte.

Konaje police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the accused.

The incident occurred a day after BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel addressed a protest meet in front of Konaje police station and threatened to arson Dakshina Kannada district if the police failed to arrest the culprits in Karthik Raj murder case.

It is worth mentioning here that Konaje and Ullal areas have witnessed a series of stabbing incidents in recent months.

Hate monmger Nalin should be stripped of MP post as he is an unfit person for the post and he shuld be arrested immediately on goonda act. Shame on BJP to have such terrorist MPs. I am sure thaqt Mr. Rahim, present of bjp morcha will appreciate Mr. Nalin for his bold step and will support him.

Bengaluru, May 12: About 101 labourers bound for Rajasthan from Bengaluru in a goods truck were detained near a border Checkpost at Hirebagewadi village in Belagavi taluk on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway and have been sent into institutional quarantine on Tuesday.

Police said that the Labourers comprising of men, women and children had been travelling towards Rajasthan in a goods truck without permission from Karnataka and even from their home State Rajasthan.

In the morning hours, police and other department personnel manning the check post near...check post near Hirebagewadi detained them.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: Examination for PU II English paper, which was postponed for more than three months due to threat of Coronavirus, was held on Thursday across the state.

The authorities were forced to postpone the examination of the English subject, scheduled in March, abruptly due to the threat of Covid-19 which spread like wildfire and has so far claimed lives of more than 100 in the state.

There are over 1,016 examination centres across the state. All the students were put to thermal scanners and were ensured wearing face masks. Each centre has sanitisers. Those with cold, cough and fever were assigned a separate room.

Bengaluru, Jul 5: Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore Bernard Moras has been diagnosed with mild symptoms of Covid-19 and his condition now is said to be stable.

"Most Reverend Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, had gone to St. John's Medical College for a routine check-up on July 2 as he was not well. Yesterday (July 3), it was confirmed that he has mild symptoms of Covid-19 and the doctors have stated that his condition at present is stable," Archbishop of Bangalore Peter Machado said in a message.

"We assure our beloved Archbishop Emeritus of the prayers of all the faithful in the Archdiocese and wish him a speedy recovery, he said.

The Archbishop Emeritus is aged about 78.
