Student held for derogatory Facebook post against Tipu Sultan

tipuKoppala, Jan 27: A miscreant has been arrested by the police in Koppala town of Karnataka for posting derogatory comments on Tipu Sultan on social media.

According to the police, Manjunath Mudgal, an ITI student, had posted pictures of Tipu Sultan on his Facebook account and passed derogatory remarks.

He had also defaced images of the Muslim ruler on his account. The incident was brought to the notice of the police by a few local residents.

Fearing a law and order situation, the police arrested Manjunath. He was asked to remove all the controversial pictures from his Facebook account. The police have registered a case.

Kalaburagi, Feb 27: Kalaburagi police has issued notice to AIMIM leader Waris Pathan to appear before the investigation officer to give his statement in connection to the controversial statement that he recently made during an anti-CAA rally.

"We have already served notice to appear and the date is 29th. He is supposed to give his statement. Some people have already recorded their statements," said Kalaburagi Police Commissioner MM Nagaraj.

Recently while addressing an anti-CAA rally in Kalaburagi, the AIMIM leader had said: "Time has now come for us to unite and achieve freedom. Remember we are 15 crores but can dominate over 100 crores."

Bantwal, Jun 29: Seven SSLC students, who were on their way to write the examination, were injured in a road mishap near Panemangaluru on Monday.

According to sources, the auto-rickshaw in which the students were travelling overturned causing them injuries.

All the injured were students of Shambur Government high school.

Police said the accident took place as the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Mangaluru, Jan 3: A young entrepreneur reportedly jumped off the Netravati bridge near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city today morning.

The youth who allegedly committed suicide has been Navesh Kottari, 30, a resident of Ullalbail. He was the proprietor of N J Shamiyana.

The incident took place at around 6:30 a.m. Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot after sometime and launched search operation for the body in the river Netravati.

The body was retrieved in the afternoon.
