Student held for derogatory Facebook post against Tipu Sultan

tipuKoppala, Jan 27: A miscreant has been arrested by the police in Koppala town of Karnataka for posting derogatory comments on Tipu Sultan on social media.

According to the police, Manjunath Mudgal, an ITI student, had posted pictures of Tipu Sultan on his Facebook account and passed derogatory remarks.

He had also defaced images of the Muslim ruler on his account. The incident was brought to the notice of the police by a few local residents.

Fearing a law and order situation, the police arrested Manjunath. He was asked to remove all the controversial pictures from his Facebook account. The police have registered a case.

Chikkamagaluru, Jan 19: A Chikkamagaluru court on Saturday were sentenced to death two persons convicted of rape and murder 18-year-old girl in 2016.

Pradeep M, 32, and Santhosh, 24, of Vykuntapura in Sringeri taluk raped a 18-year-old girl while she was returning home from college on Februrary 16, 2016.

The crime in which a first year B.Com student who was walking towards her home in a footway was stopped, raped and murdered by the duo. The killers then had dumped her body in a discarded well.

Bengaluru, Jun 24: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was all praise for a sixth standard student from Kallianpur in Udupi district for joining the fight against COVID-19 by stitching Face Masks with one hand for SSLC students writing examination beginning from Thursday.

Mr Yediyurappa took to Twitter and wrote, “Proud of this young COVID warrior Sindhuri. Her smile as she stitches that mask inspires all of us to go beyond our limitation and strengthens us to fight this battle together. God bless you!”

Sindhuri, daughter of Sudhir and Renuka is currently studying in the sixth standard in Mount Rosary school and Bulbul in Scouts and Guides as well.

Hassan, May 8: A newly married couple accidentally fell into the Hemavathi river and drowned while clicking selfies near Henneli village in the district, police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Kritika (23) of the same village and Artheesh (27) of Belur taluk in the district.

They got married on March 20. Both were working in Bengaluru and were in the village due to the lockdown.
