Summon issued against Rahul in defamation case for his 'Modi chor' jibe

Patna, Apr 28: A local court today ordered for issuance of summon against Congress president Rahul Gandhi after taking cognizance of a case filed against him by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who alleged that his 'Modi Chor' jibe had hurt the sentiments of all people in India and abroad carrying surname Modi.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Shashikant Rai, taking cognizance of a complaint case filed under section 500 of Indian Penal Code, ordered for issuance of summon against Mr Gandhi for his appearance before the court by May 20, 2019. The court also transferred the case to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Kumar Gunjan.

Mangaluru, Feb 19: Social worker Tabassum who has been rendering selfless service to HIV/AIDS affected children through her shelter home 'Snehadeep' at Bejai has been selected for the Annual Award of Mangaluru Press Club for the year 2019.

Tabassum, a resident of Konaje was chosen by a team of judges comprising Prof Balakrishna Gatti, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla and Dr Nagaveni Manchi.

The passion of young  Ms Tabassum and Social Working of today, particularly, gives me lot of hope.  It almost feels like the political class wants to bring down India while the people are so hard working and committed to nation building.

She is the alumni of JF managed Green View PU womens college at Derealakette.

Udupi, Apr 5: Excise Department has formed a special patrol teams to check the illegal sale of liquor in the district during the lockdown period.

All liquor stores are closed till April 14 in view of the lockdown to contain Covid-19 spread. However, reports of liquor being sold illegally have come to the notice of the Excise Department.

In a stern warning, the department has stated that officials will verify the closing and opening stock at the liqour stores and if any discrepancy is found the violators will be penalised. The department has received over 20-30 calls regarding the illegal sales.

Mangaluru, Mar 24: The District Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr H R Rajeshwaridevi has filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday seeking action against those circulating fake videos of a man infected with COVID-19, at the hospital.

In the video, a man was seen struggling to breathe at a hospital. The message in the video says that the man was admitted at Wenlock Hospital.

Dr Rajeshwaridevi, who issued a clarification, stated that video clips which are being circulated on social media is not from Wenlock Hospital.

Moreover, Wenlock Hospital does not use blue colour beds.
