Bengaluru, Sept 27: A show of actor Sunny Leone slated here in November has run into trouble with a fringe Kannada outfit opposing it and another demanding more local flavour, after the cancellation of her new year eve show in 2017 over similar protests.

She is scheduled to perform on November 3 at the event titled "Purity and Expression" being organised by Time Creations at the Manyata Tech Park here.

According to Time Creations, who were the organisers last year too, the police have given permission for the coming event, billed as the "biggest party" of Bengaluru.

Leone's show here on December 31, 2017, also organised by the Time Creations, was cancelled after the state government disallowed it following protests by some Kannada outfits, including Karnataka Rakashana Vedike (KRV), which had contended it would be an "assault" on the city's culture.

The organisers then had even approached the state high court which directed the police pass appropriate orders on an application filed by the former.

But, police had denied permission, saying the personnel would be on duty to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations and hence cannot provide security, following This time the show of the porn star-turned Bollywood actor has run into opposition from Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene (KRVYS), an offshoot of KRV.

The outfit said it would stage state-wide protests against the coming event even though the organisers have obtained police permission.

"Let there be police permission. We are going to protest. There is no doubt about it. Across the state we will protest," KRVYS president R Harish told PTI Wednesday.

He said the outfit was opposed to Leone's performance as she "symbolises vulgarity".

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Shetty) group urged the organisers to ensure more Kannada flavour in the event.

President of the outfit Praveen Kumar Shetty said they were not opposed to the event but only wanted the programme to be more Kannada oriented.

"Since the state formation happened on November 1 and events happen across Karnataka throughout the month, we appeal to the organisers to make the programme Kannada oriented. Kannada should get priority," he said.

Founder Director of Time Creations M S Harish said along with Leone, major part of the show would feature famous Kannada playback singer Raghu Dixit.

"We got the police permission. They are providing security. Apart from that, we have also engaged private agencies for security. It is the biggest party of Bengaluru," he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: The Insurance Regulatory Authority of India has asked insurers to settle all claims related to coronavirus expeditiously under existing health policies that provide for treatment of hospitalisation expenses.

It has also asked insurers to design products covering the cost of treatment of coronavirus that has fast spread across the world and also resulted in increasing number of infections in India. There has been over 3,000 deaths globally and 58 cases tested positive in India.

In order to provide need-based health insurance coverage, insurers are intro ducing products for various specific diseases, including vector borne diseases. "For the purpose of meeting health insurance requirements of various sections, insurers are advised to design products covering the costs of treatment for coronavirus," the IRDAI said in a circular.

The regulator said that under existing health insurance policies where hospitalisation is covered, not only the cases related to coronvirus disease (COVID-19) shall be expeditiously handled, but all the costs of admissible medic al expenses during the course of treatment, including the treatment during quarantine period, should be settled in accordance to the applicable terms and conditions of policy contract and the extant regulatory framework.

This would bring much needed relief to policy holders some of whom were facing difficulty in getting coverage for treatment takers to coronavirus. In the absence of clear information, a few hospitals were reportedly denying for forward such claims of policy holders to the insurers.

IRDAI has now said that all the claims reported under COVID-19 shall be thoro ughly reviewed by review committee before repudiating the claims. This would prevent blanket rejection of such claims.

But to get full claim for treatment of coronavirus, industry experts said, a person should be hospitalised at least for 24 hours. Most insurers do not c over outpatient treatment.

Belagavi, Jan 17: Maharashtra Minister of State for Public Health, Medical Education, FDA and Textiles Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar who had come here to participate in the martyrs day programme of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) was detained by the police and escorted back till the state borders on Friday.

MES had organised its annual martyrs day programme at Hutatma Circle here. Its leaders had earlier been asked by the District Administration and City Police to ensure that none of the political leaders from Maharashtra participate and create law and order problems by their anti-state statements.

Patil had managed to sneak into the city through a route which was not manned by the police. He came in an auto-rickshaw to the programme venue.

Police personnel present for security took him into their custody and later escorted him till the state’s borders with Maharashtra at Kognoli on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway.

MES leaders alleged that the police personnel violated protocol while taking the incumbent minister into their custody and they also roughed him up.

All vehicles entering the city from different routes and particularly from Maharashtra were screened to confirm that political leaders from the neighbouring state do not participate in the martyrs day programme and create problems by their statements that also affect law and order along with linguistic harmony.

It was not known if Patil had landed in the city on Thursday and managed to reach the programme venue without getting noticed by using an auto-rickshaw.
