Mangaluru, Feb 3: Five persons have been arrested in connection with a clash that broke out between two groups in Janata Colony at Katipalla here on Monday night.

The clash broke out following a heated exchange of words between neighbours after a goat from one family ate wheat that was left to dry in the house of the other on Friday. The dispute flared up on Monday after the family members were joined by a few more persons. There was an exchange of blows resulting in injury to nine persons. The injured were admitted to two different hospitals.

The Surathkal police have registered two cases and arrested five persons belonging to two different communities. The police have launched a search for a few more persons.

The Hindu Jagaran Vedike members on Tuesday night staged a demonstration in front of the Surathkal police station for invoking harsh sections of the Indian Penal Code against those belonging to a particular community. The vedike members said that they will continue with their protest in front of the police station on Wednesday too.

It has become a practice for Satyajit's goonda gangs to protest whenever there was a arrest on his goons.
Needs strong treatment for satyajit one day.
Police should not surrender for his goondaism dramas infront of the Police station.
He is the main person who pours oil on every incident to make communal tensions.

Shivamogga, Jun 20: Shivamogga District unit of Congress led by party veteran Kagodu Thimmappa staged a protest against state government's proposal to amend the land reform act, which will allow non-agriculturist to buy farmland.

The leaders of Farmers' Union (Raith Sangh) also staged a protest at Mahaveer circle and questioned CM's stand as he took oath in the name of farmers.

The district congress staged a protest at the premise of the Deputy Commissioner office in Shivamogga city.

The protesters termed Karnataka Government led by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa as an anti-farmers government.

According to Congress and Raith Sang, the proposed amendments to Karnataka State Land reforms act 1961 will cause harm to farmers.

"According to the proposed amendment, non-agriculturists like business tycoons can also purchase the agriculture land. This will help the businessman and will be harmful to farmers," protesters said.
