Suspected by husband, CA aspirant woman jumps to death along with child from 7th floor

Bengaluru, Jul 3: A 29-year-old married woman, who had a dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant, fell to death along with her 2-year-old son from the balcony of their seventh-floor flat in RT Nagar II Stage, off Ballari Road in the city yesterday.

Police suspect that A Bhavana, wife of Arihant, a manager with a private agency, jumped to her death at Shriram White House apartment, carrying her only child A Devant, with her.

A commerce graduate, Bhavana had cleared a few papers of chartered accountancy exam. “Her dream was to become a CA. She had planned to clear the exams after her son started attending school,” a family source said.

Married for four years, Bhavana was reportedly facing harassment from her husband and in-laws. Bhavana’s husband and his mother were in the flat when the incident took place.

“It’s not an accidental fall. They fell down from the balcony of their bedroom. A 3ft iron grill covers the open space in the balcony. The chances of it being an accident are bleak,” a police officer said.

DCP (North) N Shashikumar, quoting Bhavana’s two sisters, said Arihant harassed his wife for money. “He suspected her fidelity for no reason,” Shashikumar quoted the sisters as telling her.

very sad news.  By her look, deceased Bhavana is sure that she is very sincere, decent and noble.  Her face itself expresses her good being.  I am sorry that her husband and inmates were harassing her.  A strong case is required to be filed against them and should be in jail for not less than 10 years.  We are coming accross such cases time and again.  Govt shoud bring strict law and punish the responsible people.

Udupi, Jul 14: Abhijna Rao, a student of Vidyodaya PU College, Udupi, has emerged state topper in the science stream of II PUC. 

Abhijna has secured 596 marks in the II PUC examination-2020, the results of which were announced on Tuesday July 14. She scored a perfect 100 marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science (PCMC). In Sanskrit and English she scored 100 and 96 marks respectively.

She had secured second position in the Karnataka SSLC examinations two years ago.

She is daughter of Asha Rao and Vittal Rao, a retired professor. Her sister Raksha Rao has completed Engineering from NITK Suratkal.

“After securing second rank in the state in SSLC, my target was to score more in PUC examinations. My parents and lecturers have supported me in my studies. All my teachers gave me proper guidance. Vidyodaya College also supported me. I was studying on a daily basis. The exams were easy and I had expected to score above 590. I am very happy to score 596," she said.

Bengaluru, Mar 7: Customs officials intercepted a Guatemalan national at Kempegowda International Airport here on March 2 and recovered cocaine.

The accused confessed that she had swallowed 150 cocaine capsules and concealed a tube-like structure in her vagina.

The passenger egested the total 1.385 kg of cocaine (150 cocaine capsules) over a period of two days, under medical supervision. She has been arrested.

Further, an investigation is underway.

Mangaluru, Feb 14: In a unique initiative, students of a government school in Dakshina Kannada have made a food stop in the campus to provide water and food to birds and squirrels.

The students have hung coconut shells on trees in the school premises with food and water in it for birds and squirrels.

Speaking about the same, the Principal of the school said: "Students are taking a lot of interest in the activity. Various types of birds visit the school campus, making the ambience very nice."

He added that he wants children to become socially and environmentally conscious. "The one area where children need to be given exposure is the protection of the environment, the upkeep of the campus and the greenery in and around their homes as well as in their schools."

Commenting on the recent initiative of the school's eco-club, he said, "Using this small idea, we can have a great beginning towards taking up bigger initiatives to take care of the environment."
