Mangaluru, Jun 12: More than two weeks after he received his transfer order, M Chandra Sekhar on Monday formally bid adieu to the city of Mangaluru as another senior police officer T R Suresh took over the reins of the coastal Karnataka only city police commissionerate.

Suresh, who was serving as the DIG of Fire Services so far vowed to continue the good programmes introduced by the outgoing top cop while taking all the necessary steps to maintain law and order in the coastal city and strengthen bond between the common man and men in khaki.
A 2003 IPS officer, Suresh also holds a master degree business administration. A native of Shivamogga he has earlier served in Vijaypura, Bagalkot, Uttar Kannada, Hubballi and Dharwad, and as DCP (law and order) in Mysuru, Lokayukta department in Tumakuru, additional SP in Belagavi, as SP in Kodagu, Bagalkot, Raichur and Tumakuru, DCP Bengaluru (north east), DCP (north) in Bengaluru before becoming the DIG of Fire Services, Bengaluru.
Prior to the customary handshake with his successor Chandra Sekhar thanked all section of people including media persons for their support during his one and half year tenure as the commissioner of Mangaluru police.
Terming his Mangaluru stint as the most memorable and happiest period in his long career, Chandra Sekhar described the people of Mangaluru as peace-lovers, kind-hearted, just and intelligent. Although a small number of anti-social elements often try to disrupt peace in the city, the police department is capable of controlling them, he said. More details awaited.
