Mangaluru, Oct 20: Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee working president Ibrahim Kodichal has justified the practice of polygamy, saying that it is far better than secret extra martial affairs and prostitution.

ibrahimSpeaking to media persons over the controversies regarding the Muslim personal law and central government's attempt to implement uniform civil code, he said that there is lot of misconceptions in the society about polygamy and talaq.

He said that only in exceptional cases some Muslims marry more than one woman. A Muslim is allowed to marry more than one woman with certain conditions. He should treat all his wives equally. Mr Kodichal also claimed that polygamy is a solution for “heinous practices” such as extra martial affairs and sex trade.

He also said that Islamic Shariah has provided complete solutions for martial disputes. Talaq is discouraged by Islam and it is only the last resort in case of martial disputes.

The Congress leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government is trying to divert the attention of the people from real issues faced by the country by raking up needless controversies and interfering in Muslim personal law.

He said that instead of thinking about wives of Muslim men, Mr Modi should take care of his own wife. “Which law encourages dumping wife?” he questioned and added that most of the people very recently came to know that Mr Modi also has a wife.

Well said Mr. Kodi....
Many people who think their view is intelligent than the divine rule...
Are really unaware of their ignorance....
They should read what sharia law is and how triple talaq is implemented if the couple doesnt go along with each other rather than making a big issue by just taking and joining hands with the Haters who alwz try to demonize the divine law...

It is the mercy of ALLAH. that Muslims and non muslims are learning the Divine law and I request all to compare divine law by yourself with the man made law...

Under the sharia law Muslim women's are happy it is a divine law not man made law to be changed. In islam women's have more respect and living with dignity and modesty. If you go through the survey you can find more divorce and more than one wife in other religions. Only handful self styled Muslim women's without islamic knowledge with the help of few vested interest try to defame the sharia law and trying to apply the common civil code in the country. UCC is a drama and the hidden agenda of sangh parivar and its paid anti muslim channels and media to divert the attention of NDA's failure and bring the Ache din to the people. If they really concerned the welfare of muslim women they can empower educationally and economically without any type discrimination.

Mangaluru, Jan 13: A truck parked at the site of protest against the new citizenship law and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at Deralakatte on the outskirts of the city was charred down to ashes after it was set on fire by miscreants, police said here on Monday.

Police said that Deralakatte Citizenship Protection Committee had organised a protest rally against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here on Sunday. After the rally concluded, a few unidentified miscreants set the vehicle on fire.

The incident resulted in chaos, causing panic among the locals who informed the police immediately.

Condemning the incident, the local unit of Popular Front of India has claimed that the incident was an attempt by saffronist goons to disrupt peace and trigger communal riot in the region. It has urged the police to nab the accused immediately without yielding to any political pressure.

Mangaluru, Apr 4: The mother and grandmother of the 10-month-old baby boy, under treatment at a private hospital in Deralakatte here for COVID-19 infection, tested negative.

Doctors at the hospital said the condition of the infant, who was admitted with an acute respiratory infection, was stable and there had been a good response to the treatment being given in isolation.

The child, hailing from Sajipanadu Village in Bantwal Taluk was admitted to a hospital at Deralakatte in Mangaluru for treatment on March 23 as it had developed respiratory problems.

On March 24, the child’s condition worsened and hence his throat swabs was sent for COVID-19 testing. On March 27, reports of the tests confirmed that the child was infected with COVID-19.

Health authorities are of the view that the baby might have contracted the disease when the family travelled recently to Kasaragod in Kerala, a district identified as a hotspot for Coronavirus.

Bengaluru, Jan 18: The government slammed Kerala’s tourism department for putting out a tweet on Sankranti Day, promoting ‘beef ularthiyathu’, a specialty in that state, but the move backfired spectacularly with Karnataka’s tourism minister being heavily trolled.

After Kerala put out its advertisement, state tourism minister CT Ravi, seizing the opportunity, took a dig at the Left government in Kerala, saying, “Welcome to Karnataka”. He followed that up with another tweet listing delicious “vegetarian” dishes of coastal Karnataka — a coastline which runs to Kerala.

“Welcome to Karnataka to bring out the Vegetarian in you. Enjoy the flavors of Tulu Nadu – Pathrode, Kotte Kadubu, Halasina Hannina Gatti, Avalakki Upkari, Badanekayi Mosaru Gojju and a whole lot of authentic food to hit Your tastebuds,” Ravi’s tweet read.

Ravi’s tweet sparked a debate between those for and against eating beef, including legislators like Sowmya Reddy (Congress) and Shobha Karandlaje (BJP). Some pointed out that Karnataka is 80% non-vegetarian and an appropriate response to beef curry would have been “pandi curry” (wild pig curry) — a Kodagu specialty.

Realising his tweets were getting more negative than positive traction, Ravi quickly amended his stand and on Friday tweeted: “Nati Koli Saaru Mudde. Aw! Delightful Delicacy of Old Mysuru region. Farm bred Chicken traditionally cooked to perfection and served with the soft Ragi Mudde. You will ask for more !!!”
