Tantrik rapes 13-yr-old girl in his house after asking her parents to wait outside

Mangaluru, May 29: A Hindu tantrik from Beltangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district was arrested on Saturday for raping a 13-year-old girl who was brought to his abode by her parents for treatment.

1raped The bizarre incident took palce in Nidle village of Beltangady taluk. The rape accused is Shekhara Nalke, who is a famous tantrik and indigenous healer (naati vaidya) among local Hindus.

It is learnt that the girl was not well for some days and her parents instead of taking her to a doctor, brought her to the local tantrik's house on Saturday.

The tantrik asked the parents to wait outside and closed the door under the pretext of tying a sacred thread to protect the girl from evil forces.

After almost half an hour, the parents noticed their daughter coming from the back door of the house. She appeared to be frightened and was crying.

When the clueless parents inquired the girl, she reportedly told them that the tantrik took him to the bathroom where he sexually assaulted her.

The parents later complained to the jurisdictional Dharmastahala police, who arrested the accused on the same day.

The girl also underwent medical examination and the doctors have confirmed the sexual assault, police sources said.

Volunteer falls ill after drinking cow urine; BJP leader arrested for hosting gaumutra party

Kolkatta, Mar 19: A local leader of BJP has been arrested for organising a cow urine consumption event in Kolkata, claiming that it will protect people from coronavirus or cure those already infected, leading to a civic volunteer falling ill after drinking it.

The police said that 40-year-old Narayan Chatterjee, who had on Monday organised a cow worship programme at a cowshed and distributed cow urine, was arrested following a complaint filed by the victim.

He had vouched for its "miraculous" properties while offering gaumutra to others.

A civic volunteer, who was on duty near the cow shed also consumed gaumutra and fell sick on Tuesday, following which he lodged a complaint with the police against Chatterjee.

Reacting to the arrest, the state BJP leadership criticised the state government.

"Chatterjee had distributed cow urine, but he didn't fool people in consuming it. When he distributed it he clearly said it was cow urine, he didn't force anyone to drink it. It has not been proved whether it is harmful or not.

"So how can just police arrest him without any reason. This is completely undemocratic," state BJP General Secretary Sayantan Basu said.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has said there is no harm in drinking cow urine and he has no qualms in admitting he consumes it.

His party colleague and MP Locket Chatterjee, however, differed, terming it an "unscientific belief" that should be shunned.

The cow urine distribution as a cure for coronavirus had drawn sharp criticism from the doctors.

Words that were spoken now with the clarity of courage.

Words that were spoken now with the suppressed strength of pent up anger.

Words that were spoken now with the certainty of belonging to the soil

Which had become one with the dust of our ancestors.

We stood there in the waves of heat

Feeling the surge and press of countless bodies around us.

Bodies meshed through the odour of sweat

And the shared fear of a common persecution.

And hanging from the roof tops,

And tied to the poles,

And clutched in hands slippery with sweat,

And wrapped round the pillars,

And spreading into our blood,

Were three strips of colour with a wheel of spokes,

Sewn together into the shape of our being.

Woven into the folds of our future and the creases of our past.

Stitched to the seams of the earth, the water, the air and the sky

That belonged to us and to which we belonged.

And we stood there from noon to evening,

We the people of India.

Raising our clenched fists like signposts to the future.

Chanting slogans like a new anthem.

Kin to each other through the ties of community.

Born to live and die

In a nation that was ours to hold on to

And ours to belong to.

Muthoot finance company MD injured in attack in Kerala

Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 7: The Managing Director of Muthoot Finance company was injured after miscreants allegedly pelted his car with stones here on Tuesday morning following which one person was reportedly taken into custody.

George Alexander Muthoot, who suffered head injury has been admitted to a private hospital, police said.

A section of employees have been agitating against the Muthoot management over dismissal of 160 staff from the company's 43 branches across the state in December.

The protest is being held under the aegis of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).

While the Muthoot management alleged that "CITU goons" were behind the attack that occurred at around 9 am in front of IG office here, the union leaders have maintained that they have no role in the incident.

Reacting to the incident, Labour Minister T P Ramakrishnan said he does not think any of the Muthoot employees were behind the attack.

"The employees were protesting peacefully. Violence is not part of their protest. Even now, in today's incident, I don't think any of the Muthoot employees attacked the MD.

However, it was the management of the company which had always provoked them by not implementing the decisions taken at conciliatory meetings," the Minister said.

If the management was prepared to change its stance, all the issues would be resolved, he said.

CITU leader Ananthavattom Anandan told reporters that they do not believe in such type of violent mode of agitation.

An official of the Confederation of Indian Industries Kerala chapter condemned the incident, saying "it is a matter of great concern".

Well known businessman and founder chairman and CEO of V-Guard Industries, Kochouseph Chittilappilly condemned the attack and said it was unfortunate that such incidents still continue in the state.

“Earlier also such incidents have taken palace. It's highly condemnable. The union leaders will now claim that the incident took place without their knowledge. But without the backing of union, such incidents will never happen,” he said.

Kerala-headquartered Muthoot Finance is the largest gold financing company in India.
