Teacher arrested for sexually abusing 16-yr-old boy

Kasargod, Oct 30: A 56-year-old teacher has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody for allegedly repeatedly sexually abusing a teenage boy, police said Saturday.

abusThe accused Suresh, who was arrested Friday, used to take classes for students at a Sunday school attached to a Syrian Jacobite Church near Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district.

Suresh, who is a neighbour of the 16-year-old victim, had allegedly sexually abused the boy since 2015 after threatening him. The victim also used to attend the Sunday school classes, they added.

The teacher has been charged with IPC Section 377, (Unnatural offences) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), they said.

He was produced before a magistrate court yesterday which remanded him in 14-day judicial custody. Three such incidents of sexual abuse have been narrated in the complaint lodged with the police, police said.

Indian law is very weak. Thats why Allah made law will reduce crime.

If u ask the victims family. They will say hang him.

In this matter court should not decide the punishment. The victim or their parents should decide what punishment to give.

Bengaluru, Apr 10: With 10 new COVID-19 cases, Karnataka's tally of coronavirus cases has climbed to 207, the Karnataka government has said.

The 207 COVID-19 cases include 30 discharged and 6 deaths. Out of 10 new cases, 9 are close contacts of people who had earlier tested positive for coronavirus.

"10 more COVID-19 positive cases reported in Karnataka, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 207, including 6 deaths and 30 discharged. 9 of the 10 new cases, are close contacts of people who had tested positive for the virus earlier," said the Karnataka government.

Meanwhile, the State Department of Health and Family Welfare has further notified 14 more COVID-19 dedicated hospitals in the state.

These hospitals include Bagalkot District Hospital, Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, District Hospital Chikkaballapur, SNR District Hospital, Kandaya Bhavan Ramanagar, Tumkur District Hospital, Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura District Hospital and Yadgiri District Hospital.

India's total number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 6,412 on Friday.

Out of the total cases, 5,709 are active patients and 503 of them have been cured/discharged, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 30 new deaths reported in the last 12 hours, the toll stands at 199.

Udupi, Jun 9: A Mesolithic site has been discovered at Iduru-Kunjadi in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district of Karnataka by Prof T Murugeshi, Associate Professor of Ancient History and Archaeology at MSRS College, Shirva.

Prof Murugeshi said on Tuesday that the site is near a rock art site of the Mesolithic period that was unearthed. It is located in the Mookambika Wildlife Reserve Forest. At Iduru-Kunjadi, the finds of Mesolithic tools are characterised by blades, scrapers, burine, fluted cores, arrow-heads and flakes of the non-geometric pattern.

He said that though the site was found two years back, it took time to study and identify them. They resembled the tools found in a stratified context at Uppinangady on the Netravati basin, he added.

Mangaluru, May 17: A team of staff and students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, have designed and developed a simple and cost-effective touch-less hand sanitiser dispenser kit at Research and Innovation Centre, Nitte.

According to a release here on Sunday, NITTE said that the most effective medicine for Covid-19 is social distancing, frequent use of sanitiser, and washing hands regularly. In work areas, many people sharing common sanitiser might lead to issues.

The developed product dispenses sanitiser upon sensing the presence of the hand. The product has features like automatic hand detection, indication for power, and sanitiser quantity in the system.
