Tejasvi Surya urges Centre to Extend NRC to Karnataka too

New Delhi, Jul 10: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday urged the Centre to extend the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to Karnataka as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have become a security threat to Bengaluru and the entire state.

At present, the NRC, which is a register containing the genuine name of Indian citizens, is being implemented only in Assam.

Speaking during the Zero Hour, Surya alleged that there are a large number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in entire Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru.

They have not only become a security threat but also an economic threat as they are taking away jobs of locals, Surya said, urging the Centre to extend the NRC to Karnataka to weed out Bangladeshis who are residing here illegally.

Meanwhile, Apna Dal MP Anupriya Patel said Kol Adivasis come under the category of SC in Uttar Pradesh, while they are counted as tribals in other states.

She requested the government that in Uttar Pradesh also they should be categorised under the ST category.

Vidya Dinker, Naveenchandra to participate in national level consultation on Urban Governance

Mangalore, Jan 21: Former city councillor and social activists Naveenchandra and social activist Vidya Dinker have been invited to participate in two-day National Level Consultation on Urban Governance which will take place on January 22 and 23 at Juniper Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Urban governance stakeholders of 20 states and one union territory will be participating in this national level consultative seminar. The participants will include elected representatives, NGO representatives and urban planning experts. The seminar is being organised by Mumbai based Prajna Foundation, which has undertaken an in-depth study of the governance of the 20 states and one union territories.

Having served several terms as a corporator of Mangaluru City Corporation, Naveenchandra is knowledgeable in matters relating to urban governance. He is very popular in his constituency. Vidya Dinker is a well known city based social activist. She is the Coordinator, Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development.

Vidya Dinker I can understand but Naveen i don't know on what qualifications and credentials he has been selected and to say he is Popular in his constituency is a Misnormer . Just visit kambla ward once and speak to people and you can understand it better !!!

Mangaluru | Kudupu temple to remain closed for devotees on Nagara Panchami

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu on the outskirts of Mangaluru will be closed for devotees on the occasion of Nagara Panchami on July 25 due to Covid-19.

Ananthapadmanabha temple at Kudupu is one of the famous temples in Dakshina Kannada dedicated to Naga (Serpent God) where Nagara Panchami is celebrated in a grand way. The temple committee said that "Nagara Panchami will be observed on July 25. To avoid large gatherings, the entry of devotees is banned. The devotees should not visit the temple, thereby extend cooperation with the temple committee."

On the day of Nagara Panchami, no sevas, theertha and prasadam will be distributed. There will be no mass feeding as well.

Actor Rashmika Mandanna may face interrogation today

Madikeri, Jan 17: Kannada and Telugu actor Rashmika Mandanna is likely to be further interrogated by Income Tax (I-T) officials on Friday.

The residence and properties by the family of Rashmika were raided by I-T officials on Thursday morning. Following summons issued by I-T officials, Rashmika rushed to her residence on Thursday night and gave details on investments and other financial transactions.

After the interrogation, the I-T officials left for Serenity hall, which is owned by Rashmika's father, at Virajpet at around 2.30 am and stayed back there.

The I-T officials have reportedly directed Rashmika and her father Madan Mandanna not to leave the house.
