Shambulal Regar, the communal terrorist from Rajasthan, who thrashed and burnt a Muslim labourer from West Bengal to death two months ago without any reason, has released two new hate videos from the prison cell.

The 36-year-old had killed and burnt the body of 50-year-old Mohammad Afrazul on December 6, 2017, and all of it was recorded on camera. The extremely disturbing video clips of the hate crime were widely circulated before his arrest. Police in its chargesheet to the court has claimed that Regar killed his victim out of jealousy and a failed love affair and masked it with charge of ‘love jihad’ to hide his motives.

In the new videos being circulated, Regar makes a long-hate filled rant against Muslims, urging Hindus to unite against “jihadis”. Wearing a hoodie and reading the message from a paper, he makes repeated references to so called Islamic terrorism, love jihad and counterfeit currency.

He also claimed to have composed a ‘remix deshbhakti bhajan’, which he wants everyone to play twice a day to instil a spirit of patriotism. He also demanded support from the masses for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the second clip, he alleged a threat to his life from a prisoner from West Bengal. But he expressed no regrets for his crime. “I couldn't bear threats to Hindu women. I have ruined my life and I don't regret it" he said. The other is the context of his speech, in which Regar makes references to Israel’s policy towards its neighbours.

Two things stand out vis-à-vis the video Regar shot from his high security cell in Jodhpur central jail. First is that the huge jail complex in Jodhpur, which is considered to be the most secure jail complex after New Delhi’s Tihar jail, has no jammers to block 4G signals, leave aside a mechanism to prevent smuggling of mobile phones.

In the past too, there have been reports of inmates using internet-enabled cellphones freely inside the jail complex. Regar is lodged in one of the three high security barracks in the jail.

Sources in Central jail, where godman Asaram Bapu is also lodged, say that seven jammers have been installed in and around Jodhpur Central Jail. But, as per the technology of that time, they were designed only to intercept 2G signals. “Prisoners here can easily use 4G signals and compose videos and make video calls,” said a source.

Lucknow, Jun 2: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday said protests in the US after the death of George Floyd, an African-American man, is a clear message to the world that a common man's life has value.

She said this is also guaranteed by the India Constitution, but the governments don't follow it, resulting in the current plight of migrants workers.

Floyd, a 46-year-old restaurant worker from Houston, died in Minneapolis on Monday after a white police officer pinned him to the ground. Video footage showed the officer kneeling on Floyd's neck as he gasped for breath, sparking widespread protests across the US.

"Floyd's killing by police and the 'Black lives matter' agitation in the US have given a clear message to the world that a common man's life has value and it should not be taken for granted," Mayawati said in a tweet in Hindi.

"India's constitution guarantees independence, security, self-respect and pride and governments should give special attention to it. If it was followed, crores of migrants labourers would not have to witness such bad days," she added.

She also demanded better coordination between states to check the spread of coronavirus and said Centre should intervene.

"While coronavirus patients are rising, there is lack of coordination between states and with the Centre, and allegation and counter-allegations are going on and sealing of state borders is unjustified and it is weakening the fight against the virus.  The Centre should intervene," she said in a separate tweet.

New Delhi, May 13: Prime Minister Narendra on Tuesday announced Rs 20 lakh crore special economic package for the country to be 'self-reliant' and deal with COVID-19.

"I announce a special economic package today. This will play an important role in the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.' The announcements made by the government over COVID, decisions of RBI and today's package totals to Rs 20 lakh crore. This is 10 per cent of India's GDP," said Prime Minister Modi in his address to the nation. The Prime Minister said that humanity would not accept defeat from the coronavirus but the people have to stay safe and move forward.

"We had never seen or heard about such a crisis ever before. This is definitely unimaginable for mankind. It is unprecedented. But humanity will not accept defeat from this virus. We have to not only protect ourselves but also move forward," he said.

Talking about the gravity of the virus, Modi said: "It has been four months the world is fighting COVID-19. More than 42 lakh people from different countries have been infected by COVID-19. More than 2.75 lakh people have lost their lives due to the virus. In India too many families have lost their dear ones, I express my condolences to them."

"Today when the entire world is in crisis, we will have to further firm our resolve," he added.

The Prime Minister on Monday held a video conference meeting with Chief Ministers of all states to discuss the road ahead in India's fight against COVID-19 and noted that he was of the firm view that measures needed during the third phase of lockdown will not be needed in the fourth phase.

Prime Minister Modi had said the need was to reduce the transmission rate of the disease and to increase public activity gradually while adhering to all the guidelines and efforts to be made towards achieving both these objectives.

The phase three of the lockdown is coming to an end on May 17.
