Mumbai, Dec 21: Directing the much-awaited "Tiger Zinda Hai", starring Salman Khan, was a mammoth task for director Ali Abbas Zafar as he was under pressure to live up to the expectations of the superstar and his fans.

"Tiger Zinda Hai" is the second instalment of the 2012 blockbuster action-drama film "Ek Tha Tiger" that was directed by Kabir Khan. The sequel will reunite Salman and Katrina Kaif as secret service agents while Salman and Ali are also working together after the massive success of "Sultan".

Asked if there was a pressure on him, Ali told PTI, "Yes, definitely. He is such a big superstar with a huge fan base. As a filmmaker, it's your responsibility that you entertain the audience who are coming to watch the film.

"The pressure isn't only about Salman Khan's stardom. Everyone who spends money to watch the film is equally important."

With two films in a row with Salman, one would assume that there is a formula that the director has cracked but Ali insists that is not the case.

The director said it was important for him to stay true to the story while also charting out the character in a way that it lives up to the image of Salman.

"As a writer, you have to be honest with the character you are writing. Both Sultan and Tiger's characters are author- backed. The idea is, whenever you are working with a superstar like Salman Khan, you create a character which matches his stardom in real life.

"When the audience come and watch the film, they understand that the name is only Tiger or Sultan but it is Salman Khan there! But it has to be done in a real way."

The "realism", Ali said, comes only when one sticks to the story and not give in to the temptation of making things larger-than-life for the sake of it.

"The action in 'Sultan' wasn't defying gravity or physics. Similarly, the idea here is to keep him (Salman) real but at the same time, you give him a gun, which once he fires, becomes a 'wow' moment. A lot of his fans will feel this is a 'Salman Khan moment'.

"But it's actually the character who is picking up the gun and firing. The gun has a justification to be in that world because it's a war film."

"Tiger Zinda Hai" chronicles the story of two agents on a mission to rescue 25 Indian nurses taken a hostage in Iraq.

Ali has woven real-life incidents the abduction of nurses into a fictional setting as he believes the subject immediately becomes more accessible.

"What excites me most is what is happening around me, if I can weave a bit of fiction into it to bring it in front of the audience. Even 'Sultan' was inspired by a lot of real-life wrestler stories but was a completely fictional film. If we create something out of reality, it becomes more accessible."

While there is a lot of buzz surrounding the film in India, there were reports that Pakistan may not release "Tiger Zinda Hai" as they had some objections.

Asked about it, Ali said, "Right now, we are not very clear on what has happened. It is still in contention. YRF (Yash Raj Films) is still trying to get through the matter. We will get to know by the next week. There are still things which are going back and forth."

Ali said he is experiencing "a weird feeling of being excited and nervous" as the film is set to be released this Friday.

Los Angeles, Mar 12: Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks has revealed that he and wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The actor couple, currently in Australia to shoot for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann's untitled Elvis Presley film, decided to get tested after they felt "a bit tired".

"Hey folks Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive," Hanks said in a tweet.

The Academy-award-winning actor said the medical team had already taken over.

"The medical officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks will be tested, observed and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires," Hanks said.

"Not much more to it than one-day at a time approach, no? We will keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!" Hanks tweeted.

The 74-year-old musician shared the information through a video message posted on his official Facebook page.

In the video, the singer detailed about having a little "discomfort" for two days, stating he had chest congestion along with cold and on-off fever, which led him to get tested for the virus.

However, he also mentioned that he could have stayed at home in self-quarantine, as advised, but did not want to put his family in danger, and hence got admitted by his own choice, to recover quickly.

"I am in good hand, I am in good health. Nobody has to worry about this. The fever has subsided, and in two days I'll be discharged and I'll be home. Thanks for the concern," he said in the video message.

Mumbai,  Aug 7: Unless Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, it would be illegal, affecting the federal structure of the country, said actor Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police in connection with the case, he added.

"The Bihar Government transferred a case with which it had no jurisdiction to investigate, to CBI instead of the Mumbai Police which is the legal position. The Supreme Court is seized of the issue pursuant to the transfer petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty," said Satish Maneshinde Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Supreme Court has directed all parties to file their replies and Mumbai Police is directed to place the report of investigations, he added.

"Pending the said proceedings the CBI has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police.

CBI being a premier investigative agency in the country should desist from taking any further steps pending the SC proceedings. Apart from the same unless the Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigating the case ... it would be totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation," said Maneshinde.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI that is probing high profile cases of Vijay Mallya and AgustaWestland cases will now investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.

The investigating agency has registered a case against six accused including Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the Rajput's death.

The sources in CBI said that six accused in the case will be summoned soon for questioning and other persons will also be called for examining which was earlier examined by Mumbai police.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier sent a recommendation to the Central Government for CBI investigation in the case filed in Patna based on the complaint of Sushant's father KK Singh against Rhea Chakraborty under sections including abetment of suicide on July 25.

Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Days after Rajput's death, Rhea Chakraborty said she was the "girlfriend" of the 'Dil Bechara' actor while requesting a CBI inquiry in the case.

Chakraborty has also approached the Supreme Court for transfer of investigation to Mumbai in the FIR registered against her in Patna.
