Mumbai, Jun 23: Days after Pakistan hammered a blundering India by 180 runs to lift the ICC Champions Trophy, at The Oval, a video showing hundreds of people donned in white attire with skull caps on their heads celebrating men in green’s victory has created a row on social media.

cricketThe online ‘swayamsevaks’ of Sangh Parivar went on to claim that the video was shot in a mosque in Mumbai's Mira road where according to them people celebrated Pakistan's triumph.

The video, which went viral on social media, especially on Twitter and Whatsapp, instigated much hate speech and jingoism, with some resorting to use derogatory remarks against Indian Muslims.

However, during investigation it was ascertained that no Mumbai mosque ever glorified India's defeat. "The premises or place shown in the video cannot be a mosque because TV sets will not be installed inside places of prayer," said a senior police officer in Mumbai.

When the video was monitored closely, it was established that the clip was not shot in India. Moreover, as per the clip people cheering for Pakistan were watching the match aired on PTV sports, the official broadcaster of ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

The fact is that the video was shot in Pakistan where people were supporting and cheering for their team’s victory. It's a celebration of Pakistan's win by Pakistanis inside Pakistan and not by Indians as claimed by the hatemongers on social media.

When the reality came to light, the fun-mongers on social media started accusing Saffronists of granting Indian nationality to Pakistanis. “Funny Sanghis. They call Indians as Pakistanis and Pakistanis as Indians,” tweeted an Indian youth.

Kalaburagi, Mar 25: Three coronavirus suspect persons who did not stay home during their mandatory 14-day quarantine period had first information report (FIRs) booked against them in police stations in Kalaburagi town in Karnataka.

The district administration took this action after it came to know that the three pesons were mingling in the public despite being told to stay home to avoid passing on the coronavirus.

Cases have been booked against them under IPC sections 188 and 271, deputy commissioner B Sharath said.

Stringent action would be taken against them, he said, for not only threatening the health of their family members but society at large.

“The administration will stop at nothing to safeguard public health in this time of emergency,” Sharath said.

People moving around on motorbikes without a proper reason will have their bikes seized. Prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC will remain in force until further orders, he said.

Bengaluru, Jan 17: Karnataka Health Minister and BJP leader B Sriramulu on Friday claimed that Congress supports Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) to disturb peace in the state.

His statement came after the arrest of 6 SDPI supporters in connection with an attack on a BJP-RSS follower during a pro-CAA rally held in December last year.

"The Congress party 100 per cent supports SDPI and PFI. Whenever they do not get the power, they try to disturb the peace with the support of SDPI and PFI. I will propose in Karnataka Assembly session to ban these organisations in Karnataka. We will discuss this matter," Sriramulu told ANI.

"We had already demanded for the ban on these organisations in Karnataka when I was an MP. Shobha Karandlaje, Yediyurappa and I had met Rajnath Singh, the then Home Minister in Delhi and we had given a memorandum to ban SDPI and PFI," he added.

A case has been registered against arrested SDPI supporters under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Bengaluru Police is constituting a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) to handle this case.

"There were 6 people belonging to SDPI, who were here to carry out attacks on leaders supporting CAA. These people were being paid Rs 10,000 from their handlers to create ruckus here. Now this will be handled by the Anti-Terror unit," said Bhaskar Rao, Bengaluru Commissioner of Police.

Earlier today, Karnataka Minister Jagadish Shettar called for a ban on SDPI.

"SDPI always denies their involvement but it has been proved now. I welcome the police's action. Their organisation should be banned as they have always been involved in anti-social activities and government of India should take very serious note of this," Shettar told ANI here.
