Those who don’t believe in Savarkar should be beaten in public: Shiv Sena chief

Mumbai, Aug 24: Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said that people who do not believe in the ideology of Veer Savarkar should be "beaten" in public.

"People who do not believe in Veer Savarkar should be beaten in public because they won't realise the struggle and importance of Veer Savarkar in India's independence. Even Rahul Gandhi has insulted Veer Savarkar in the past," he said at a press conference here.

Thackeray's remarks came after a bust of Savarkar was installed on Tuesday by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) outside the Art Faculty in North Campus of Delhi University, which was later allegedly blackened by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI).

Along with Savarkar's bust, the ABVP had installed statues of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh.

While confirming the incident, Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) president Shakti Singh said on Wednesday that the body had been seeking permission to install their busts for a long time but the administration ignored the demand forcing them to take such a step.

The move was criticised by both NSUI and Left-backed All India Students Association (AISA).

Udupi, Jul 24: Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has filed a complaint with the Cybercrime Police alleging that fake websites were created in the Corporation name and charging for registration to 1800 engineer jobs amidst covid-19 crisis. 

In a complaint submitted to Udupi Cyber Crime, Economic Offences & Narcotics (CEN) police station on Friday, UPCL Association General Manager K Shashidar alleged that four fake websites have been created in the name of UPCL and have claimed that 1,800 engineers posts are vacant in UPCL.

The fake websites have also been demanding Rs 500 fee for the registration of the job aspirants.

The FAKE websites are: www.udupipowerproject.com, www.upclindia.com, www.udupiproject.com, www.udupiproject.in. Helpline numbers +918046800985, +911149409800, +911149409807  too have been given in these fake websites.

Udupi CEN station has registered a case under Section 66(c), 66(d) of IT Act.

Bengaluru, Mar 5: Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal's wife Priya Bansal has filed a dowry harassment case against the entrepreneur at Kormangala police station in Bengaluru, sources said.

Priya alleged that ahead of their wedding, her father had spent Rs 50 lakh for the arrangements and given Rs 11 lakh in cash to Sachin instead of a car. Further, she has also alleged that Sachin has been pressurising her to transfer all the properties that were in her name to him. However, after refusing to do so her in-laws started harassing her.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Sachin and three others at Kormangala police station in Bengaluru.

The police are investigating the matter.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: An elderly woman who was tested positive for coronavirus, breathed her last at the designated covid hospital in the city today.

The deceased was a 60-year-old resident of Ullal.

According to sources, the woman, was getting treated for ailments related to liver and heart.
