Bantwal, Jan 3: Dakshina Kannada district police has managed to arrest three persons in connection with the alleged murder attempt on Keshava, who is also an accused in a murder case.
Keshava, who is out on the bail, was attacked with lethal weapons by motorbike-borne men on December 27 at Kalladka town of Bantwal taluk. Keshava, sustained deep injuries on the forehead in the attack, is recovering at a hospital now.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Iqbal of Kalladaka, his son Nizam and Mohammed Sharif of Panemangaluru.
According to police Iqbal is a leader of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Nizam a leader of Popular Front of India (PFI), Bunder unit, and Sharif is a PFI leader, Aladka unit.
Nizam was found to be along with Channa Farooq when the offence was committed. Others were arrested for criminal conspiracy, harbouring and abetting the crime. Police will seek custody of the arrested people for further investigation.
Keshava himself is an accused in the murder of Abdul Jaleel Karopady, vice-president of Karopady Gram Panchayat in Bantwal taluk. Karopady was hacked to death on the panchayat premises on April 20, 2017.
