Three more arrested for attack on Bajrang Dal activist

Mangaluru, Oct 8: The Bajpe police have arrested three more people in connection with the attack on Bajrang Dal leader Harish Shetty, at Sooralppady near Gurpura on September 24.

With this, the number of arrested persons has increased to six.

The arrested are rowdy-sheeters Mohammed Khalid (30) of Ulaibettu, Mohammed Sharif (27) of Sooralppady and Isan (21) of Kolambe kajepadavu. The police arrested Sharif, Sifaz and Arif on October 2.

It may be recalled that bike-borne assailants had attacked and murdered Shetty while he was riding a two-wheeler on September 24.

Udupi, Apr 8: Six patients were admitted to isolation wards in the hospitals in the district on Tuesday.

While four people were suffering from symptoms of COVID-19, two were suffering from SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection).

As many as 19 samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 testing to a laboratory in Shivamogga.

Kasaragod, Feb 18: Police have seized counterfeit notes of Rs 45 lakh from a resident here on Tuesday.

The accused Muhammed, a native of Perla, has been taken into custody for carrying the prohibited currency and the police is investigating the crime.

Hassan, Mar 14: Karnataka Health Department officials took help of the Police to get a man, who returned from pilgrimage to Mecca (Saudi Arabia), admitted to hospital as he refused to undergo clinical tests for suspected Coronavirus, official sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, a family from Arkalgud taluk, who was on a pilgrimage to Mecca and Madina, returned on March 5 and the woman from the family developed fever and symptoms of flu.

On Friday evening, in view of the Coronavirus scare, a team of Health Department officials visited their house and directed them to get admitted to a hospital in Hassan for treatment.
