Three NRI students killed in Sharjah car crash

Sharjah, Mar 12: Three Indian students died on the spot in a horrific accident that occurred in Al Madam-Al Sameed road in Sharjah.

The deceased have been identified as Ashmid Ashraf (20) from Kozhikkode; Shifaam Musthafa (20) from Panoor, Kannur; and Mohammed Sunoon (21) from Kozhikkode.

The youths were returning after visiting a friend's house when the horrific accident took place in Sharjah's Madam area around 1.30am. The driver of the youths' car tried to take a U-turn from an unauthorised area on the road, when another speeding car crashed into theirs.

The three youths were killed on the spot, while the driver of the other car - a 25-year-old Yemeni - sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the Middlesex University has expressed deep condolences to the families of the boys.

"Middlesex University Dubai Students and Staff mourn the loss of Ashmid Ashraf, Muhammed Shifam and Mohammed Sunoon in a tragic accident. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to their families," reads the Facebook post of the university.

Mangaluru, May 24: A 42 –year-old man who was the secondary contact of P 1233 has been tested positive for COVID 19, in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday.

The man is being treated at the designated COVID-19 hospital in Mangaluru. With this, DK has registered a total of 66 positive cases with 34 active cases.

P 1233 was a 30-year-old man who had inter-state travel history from Maharashtra, said DK DC Sindhu B Rupesh.

The news case took the district's covid tally to 66 and 34 of them are active cases.

Mysuru, Mar 24:m who returned from foreign travel and flouted home quarantine guidelines has been arrested in Mysuru on Monday. 

The man, who returned from Australia, had a seal on his hand but was roaming around the city. 

According to police, he was supposed to be under home quarantine till April 6. V V Puram Police took him into custody.

Mangaluru, Jul 5: A veteran politician and former union minister has repeatedly tested positive for COVID-19 in the Dakshina Kannada.

The former minister, who resides in Bantwal taluk, is said to be asymptomatic.

His wife and children have also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, one of the kin of the former minister said that he is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. "He is asymptomatic and doing well," he said.
