Three sandalwood smugglers arrested near temple in Puttur

Puttur, Aug 22: Police have arrested three alleged sandalwood smugglers in Kodipaddi under Puttur Town police station limits recently.

The arrested are Poovappa, resident of Ramakunja, Keshava, resident of Aryapu. The police also seized 39kg of sandalwood logs worth Rs 10,000

Police said during the regular rounds, they noticed three persons roaming suspiciously near Kodipaddi Janardhan temple.

When police interrogated them, they were found to be possessing sandalwood logs cut from nearby woods.

The search is on for Dhanajay, resident of Balnadu, who fled spot the spot. A case has been registered at Puttur Town police station

A person loots our nation's property to be called as DESH DROHI and all privilages including ration card all to be suspended immediately. Same status need to applied to   supporters.

Shivamogga, Feb 6: A youth, who allegedly uploaded pornography and inappropriate videos of children on social media, was arrested by the district CEN police after a tip-off from the CyberTipline.

The accused is a resident of Sorab taluk and is said to be below 18 years. He uploaded the objectionable content during April and May last year. He was traced based on the IP address of his computer and the mobile call records shared by the investigating agencies.

He was arrested in January under the provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000 and sent to judicial custody, said police sources.

Udupi, Aug 6: Three people including police personnel entered a well and rescued an elderly woman who had accidentally fallen into Udupi on Thursday.

A police sub-inspector and two others got down into a well and rescued the elderly woman, who accidentally fell into well at near her home at Kukkikatte.

The locals immediately alerted to police and fire and rescue personal.

Udupi town police sub-inspector Sadashiva Govroji, fire and rescue staff Vinayaka and a local Auto-driver Rajesh Nayak got into the well and brought the woman out safely.

Bengaluru, May 3: Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar on Saturday said that those who want to travel from other states to Karnataka and vice-versa must register on 'Sevasindhu' website.

"Those who want to travel from other states to Karnataka and from Karnataka to other states must register on 'Sevasindhu' website, then all intimation will be shared from the government side," Kumar said.

Karnataka Health Department on Saturday said that three deaths and 12 new COVID-19 cases were reported in last 24 hours in the state.

According to the Health Department, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the state is now 601. 271 patients have either been cured or discharged. The virus has killed 25 people so far in the state.
