Three sandalwood smugglers arrested near temple in Puttur

Puttur, Aug 22: Police have arrested three alleged sandalwood smugglers in Kodipaddi under Puttur Town police station limits recently.

The arrested are Poovappa, resident of Ramakunja, Keshava, resident of Aryapu. The police also seized 39kg of sandalwood logs worth Rs 10,000

Police said during the regular rounds, they noticed three persons roaming suspiciously near Kodipaddi Janardhan temple.

When police interrogated them, they were found to be possessing sandalwood logs cut from nearby woods.

The search is on for Dhanajay, resident of Balnadu, who fled spot the spot. A case has been registered at Puttur Town police station

A person loots our nation's property to be called as DESH DROHI and all privilages including ration card all to be suspended immediately. Same status need to applied to   supporters.

 

This will reduce most of the corrupted politician's lavish life and help to develop our country.

Mangaluru, May 17: With the detection of two more covid-19 positive cases in Mangaluru, the total number of cases in Dakshina Kannada today mounted to 52.

A 35-year-old woman who was under quarantine along with her husband after returning from Maharashtra today tested positive for the coronavirus. 

A 31-year-old man also tested positive for covid-19.  More details to follow.

Madikeri, Apr 5: Following the novel Coronavirus and imposition of Lockdown in the country and departure of the migrant labour force to their hometowns, the harvest of Pepper and post-harvest process of Coffee have taken a hit in Kodagu region of Karnataka.

In the Coffee land, most of the workers at these estates are primarily from north Karnataka and neighbouring districts, including Periyapatna and Hunsur taluks in Mysuru District. Local workers are also sourced for the job as the harvest area is large.

The Kodagu district which already faced severe natural calamity during the last two years now added with the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent Lockdown, many workers have returned to their home districts, barring a few who have been working in the plantations for many years and reside in the estates themselves.

Bengaluru, May 4: A total of 37 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Karnataka taking the total number to 651, State Health Department said on Monday.

"Thirty seven new coronavirus positive cases have been confirmed in Karnataka from 5 pm yesterday to 5 pm today. The total number of cases in the state stands at 651," the department said.

The total number of cases includes 27 deaths and 321 persons who have been discharged. Of the remaining 302 cases, 296 patients are in isolation in designated hospitals and six patients are in ICU.

India has registered 2,553 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours and the total number of cases now stands at 44,532.
