Three youths from Bengaluru run over by train while taking selfie

Bengaluru, Oct 3: Selfie craze has proved costly for three youth, who have been run over by the moving train.

The incident happened near Bidadi’s Manchanayakanahalli, Wonder La gate where the trio is said to be on track and trying to take a selfie with the moving train.

It is reported that the trio are hailed from Bengaluru and the bodies have been mangled beyond recognition. Bidadi police have rushed to the spot and further investigation is on.

Mandya, Jan 25: A woman committed suicide by jumping into Vishveshwaraiah Canal after throwing her two children into the canal near Thibbanahalli in the Taluk, police said on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Jyothi (33), Nisarga (7) and Pavan (4), of Hullenahalli.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday.

Mangaluru, May 21: A man who was quarantined in Moodbidri town of Dakshina Kannada after returning from Mumbai has reportedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

The victim has been identified as Dayanand Poojary from Kadandale.

The exact reason for the suicide is not yet known. However, it is suspected that he might have resorted to the extreme step out of fear about COVID-19 and about the means of his future livelihood.

He was admitted to the quarantine facility at Kadandale school around 1 am on Thursday, May 21. Within a couple of hours he ended his life, sources said.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.

Bengaluru, Mar 3: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that the party's protest will continue until the Speaker will allow them to discuss BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yathnal's recent comments on freedom fighter HS Doreswamy.

"Our protest in the well of state assembly will continue until Speaker allows us to discuss about Basanagouda Patil Yatnal," Siddaramaiah said.

Congress MLAs staged a protest in the Karnataka Assembly and entered the well demanding BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yathnal's apology for his 'Pakistani agent' remark.

Earlier, Congress leaders on February 26 staged a protest on the same issue in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Vidhana Soudha.

Yathnal, on February 25, called Doreswamy a fake freedom fighter and a Pakistani agent while addressing the media. His comments triggered a controversy drawing sharp remarks from Congress and other parties.
