Bengaluru, Mar 9: In a tragic incident, three youths drowned in Burude Falls in Siddapura Taluk of Uttara Kannada on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Abhishek Nair, Murali and Sai.
The trio, who were on a pleasure trip, went for swimming in the Falls when they got slipped and met watery grave. The bodies were fished out by expert swimmers and sent for postmortem.
Bengaluru, Mar 13: Several ministers staying at the Bengaluru resort had been emotionally pressurised to leave the Congress party, said Congress leader Jitu Patwari on Thursday after he was rescued by party leader DK Shivakumar from getting arrested due to the scuffle that had broken out at Embassy Boulevard here.
"We had received information that one of the MLAs, Manoj Chaudhary, staying at the Boulevard wanted his father to bring him back home," Patwari told reporters.
He said, "We had accompanied Manoj's father to the resort but the moment we entered the restaurant at the resort, some miscreants took away Manoj to some other unknown place," Patwari told reporters.
"Meanwhile, we (Lakhan Singh and Jitu Patwari) were manhandled and taken to the police station," he added.
Patwari said that the police had started the process of arresting them but Shivakumar came to their rescue and stopped their arrest.
He further said, "The police manhandled us even though we tried to talk to them in a very calm manner."
"If the MLAs giving resignation was their decision then why is the BJP not allowing them to contact their families," the MP said.
He further said that Jyotiraditya Scindia would soon become a minister but "why are the other ministers being made scapegoats."
Earlier in the day, a Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh had said that if action on the assaulters of its two leaders is not taken then the matter will be taken to the court.

The key-note speaker was Dr Hima Urmila Shetty and the Panel of Experts included Maggie Harris, a Commonwealth short stories award winning poet of Broadstairs, Kent; Dr Kathryn Hummel, a visiting professor at IIT Hyderabad; Prof Raj Rao, acclaimed poet and novelist, former HOD of English, Savithribai Phule University; Lata Chouhan from Bangalore; Vijay Tiwari from Ahmedabad; Dr. Nagaveni Manchi, an acclaimed Poet and Professor, Govt College, Carstreet and Ms. Chandrakala Nandavara, former Principal of Ganapati PU College.
Dr Sr Jeswina A.C., the Principal; Dr Sr Maria Roopa A.C. the Superior and Dr Sr Vinora A.C., graced the occasion.

Mysuru, Jul 20: Police and the Bengaluru City Quarantine Squad apprehended quarantine breacher “Drone Boy” Prathap N M in Mysuru on Monday afternoon.
Police sources said that the 23-year-old youth agreed to surrender following negotiations with officers.
“He agreed to turn himself in after realizing that he had no other alternative,” said an officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
A team of officers from the Quarantine Squad under Dr Prayag H S and police from the Talaghattapura Police Station under Inspector Ramappa Guttedar said they apprehended Prathap who was staying at a hotel in the Mandi Mohalla area at around 3 pm.
Prathap’s father accompanied the team to convince his son to surrender. Police said Prathap will be returned to the city to be placed into 14 days of institutional quarantine.
With two cell phones at his disposal Prathap, who is accused of twice breaching home quarantine regulations, fled the city on Saturday.
Police, who were initially aware of only one cell phone, lost track of the youth as he drove out of the city, turning his phone off near Kengeri.
However, after quizzing the fugitive’s family, police learned that Prathap had a second phone and sim card. “His whereabouts were established on Sunday evening by tracking this second phone,” an official source said.
