Bengaluru, Mar 9: In a tragic incident, three youths drowned in Burude Falls in Siddapura Taluk of Uttara Kannada on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Abhishek Nair, Murali and Sai.
The trio, who were on a pleasure trip, went for swimming in the Falls when they got slipped and met watery grave. The bodies were fished out by expert swimmers and sent for postmortem.
Kannur, Jun 21: Customs sleuths on Sunday seized 432 grams of gold worth around Rs 20 lakh from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Dubai in Fly Dubai flight, scheduled under Vande Bharat Mission.
Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team seized the smuggled gold from the passenger Usman of Malappuram district and detained him, sources said.
The seized gold was kept in his inner-wear.
Udupi, Jan 4: A 37-year-old Udupi district JD(S) spokesperson allegedly committed suicide at his residence here last night, police said on Saturday.
It identified the deceased as Pradeep G Bailoor (37).
He was working as the District JD(S) spokesperson for many years.
Bengaluru, Feb 6: Karnataka government has launched an aggressive awareness campaign against the novel coronavirus across the state with a special focus on its bordering areas in wake of the three confirmed cases of the deadly pathogen in neighbouring Kerala.
According to Health Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey, "All necessary information on the virus, its symptoms and precautions are being announced at public places like bus stops via radio from time to time."
“A video regarding the same is also being played in 500 cinema halls, advising masses to take precautions," he said.
