Torpedoes T10 Bash: Alva’s Moodbidri, Indian Port emerge champions

Mangaluru, Mar 5: In the one sided final match Alva’s Moodbidri team defeated DNI Home Theater by 110 run and lifted the prestigious Torpedoes T10 Bash Elite National Cricket Championship. In the Corporate section League leader Indian Port lift the Trophy, Laxmi Memorial Educational Trust won the runnerup trophy.

Alva’s and DNI team won the cash prize 1 lakh and 50,000 respectively, Corporate Champion Indian Port and LMET won the cash prize Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively.

A clinical bowling perfoemance by Shreesha Acharya (5 for 9) and in batting half century by Lal Sachin made Alva’s easy win in final match. Electing in to Alva’s made 134 runs in 10 overs. By replaying big total DNI collaped for only 24 runs. For Alva’s Shreesha Acharya too 5 wickets for just 9 runs. Shreesha Acharya awarded Man of the match for final match. Lal Sachin won best Batsman award of the tournament, Shreesha Acharya is best bowler ot the tournament.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Senthil Kumar was the chief guest for the prize distribution function and hand over the trophies to the winning teams. MRPL Chief General Manager SharathBhudale, Deputy Conservative and President NMPT sports council Captain S.R. Patnaik, Kanranataka Cricket Association Mangalore DivisonConvinorManohar Amin, Former MLA MoideenBava and PratibhaKulaiReddy and other dignitaries preside over the function.

This time Torpedoes sports Club honoured the sports achivers of Dakshina Kannada. Former crickterVijaya Alva, Uday Kumar Y, ManjunathMallya and Young cricket talent Yash has been felicitated by felicitated. Udupi, Jan 5: The district administration has identified 460 beneficiaries who will be allotted flats at Herga under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, informed MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday he said the Udupi Municipal Council will construct the apartments in the 8.22 acres of land earmarked for the purpose at Herga. The flats will be ready before April 2021.

Udupi, Mar 25: Fearing Corona infection a 56-year-old man has committed suicide over in Udupi. 

The deceased has been identified as Gopalkrishna Madivala.

He was a KSRTC bus driver and was currently performing a duty to train new drivers.

He suspected his friend had contracted COVID-19 and as he had a close association with him, he feared he too will be infected and hence hanged himself on a tree.

Although symptoms of Corona infection do not appear to him, he left behind a death note which stated that he resorted to the extreme step over suspicion of having been infected by a corona trait of a friend. 

Recently, the first COVID-19 positive case in Udupi where a 34-year-old man has been tested positive.

A press release issued by the District Health and Family Welfare Officer on Wednesday said that the man had come from Dubai to Udupi district on March 18.

Since he showed symptoms of COVID-19, he was admitted to the District Government Hospital on March 23. His throat swab was sent for test and the preliminary report stated that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: Senior IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash today took over as the new commissioner of police of Mangaluru city.

He replaced Dr P S Harsha, who was recently transferred and posted as the Deputy Inspector General and Commissioner of Information and Public Relations.

Before coming to Mangaluru as city police chief, Vikash Kumar was the Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commander of Anti Naxal Force.

He had also served as the superintendent of police of Chikkamagaluru district.
