Madikeri, Dec 30: Despite coffee district of Kodagu getting back to normal, footfall in the famous tourist destination nestled in serene Western Ghats has not witnessed much improvement as expected with hotels and resorts seeing poor occupancy.
Kodagu has seen an unprecedented drop in tourist arrivals this year.
Tourism has not picked up after the devastating floods and landslides the coffee land witnessed a few months ago.
Though the stakeholders in the tourism industry maintain that the hill station had returned to normal, footfalls have not seen an increase despite being a tourist season which otherwise should have attracted a large number of tourists.
The spurt in home stays and luxury resorts in the coffee land has made it one of the most preferred hill stations in South India.
