Bengaluru, Jun 11: Train services between Hassan and Mangaluru have been suspended indefinitely following a landslide at three places and uprooting of a tree on the railway track last night.

Railways bore the brunt of torrential rains with the advent of monsoon in many parts of Karnataka for the past few days. Railway officials said that the Yashwanthpur-Karwar Express was short-terminated at Hassan due to the landslide and the fares were refunded to the passengers.

Similarly, Mangaluru-Yashwanthpur Gommateshwara Express (16576) was also rerouted via Palghat and Erode to reach Bengaluru. A Railway official said there were multiple problems between Kadagaravalli, Yedakumeri and Shrivagilu.

"There were landslides at eight places and tree incidents of collapse at Shrivagilu. Restoration work is on. We heard that there was a heavy downpour - about 219 mm rainfall due to which the problem took place," he added. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Cell recorded 241.5 mm rain in Sakhleshpura where the landslide took place.

Kasaragod, Feb 17: A Kerala Muslim couple conducted the wedding of their Hindu foster daughter at a Bhagavathi temple in Kerala, scripting another tale of communal harmony at Kasaragod.

The wedding ceremony was held on Sunday.

The woman Rajeshwari tied the knot with Vishnu Prasad in the presence of family and friends belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities.

Abdulla and Khadeeja adopted Rajeshwari after her father who worked at Abdulla's farm died. Rajeshwari's mother also passed away when she was a child.

Rajeshwari grew up alongside Abdulla and Khadeeja's three sons- Shameem, Najeeb and Shereef.

Earlier in January this year, cutting across the lines of religion, a mosque in Kerala's Kayamkulam hosted a Hindu marriage ceremony.

Tumakuru, Jan 8: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat stoked controversy on Wednesday by stating that 'Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is full of traitors'.

He was addressing the media after taking part in a pro-CAA rally organised by National Citizens Forum near the office of the deputy commissioner of the district here.

Bhat said, “JNU is full of traitors. Congress and communist parties have been generating anti-nationals there. But there is no need to close the university down. Modi government will handle it.”

“Nationalism should be infused among the students there through love and trust. They should be made to realize what the truth is,” he said.

Unfortunate, still he has poor followers to believe him.

He is safe at home and sacrifiers are poor boys who blindly believe and obey him.

This guy is sick and irriversible.

God will reward him so that his followers believe his exploiting orders.
