Shivamogga, Nov 26: A car driver’s bid to avoid hitting a cow, resulted in the death of two persons as the vehicle rammed into a tree on the National Highway 206 near Kumsi in Shivamogga taluk on Saturday.
The victims are M Lokesh (35), who was serving as a section officer in the energy department secretariat in Bengaluru, and Netravathi (34), who was employed at the Vikasa Soudha in Bengaluru.
The accident took place around 2.30 pm. Lokesh, who was driving the car, made an extreme left turn when a cow all of a sudden entered the road. As a result he lost control over his vehicle which rammed into a tree.
It is said they were on their way to Sigandhur in Sagar taluk from Bengaluru to spend the weekend.
The police said the Netravathi’s husband had lodged a complaint at the Vijayanagar station in Bengaluru, saying his wife had been missing since November 22. The Kumsi police have registered a case.
