Ramanagara, Jun 26: Police have recovered two live bombs from a drainage in the town, about 50 Km from Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The recovery comes close on the heels of arrest of a suspected member of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh Habibur Rehman Sheikh (28) alias Habibur or Sheikh in Doddaballapur in Bengaluru Rural district yesterday.
Sources said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA), who interrogated the Habibur received the information about these bombs and alerted the Police.
The bomb squad who rushed to the spot defused the bombs. The officials suspect that there could be more such devices and are carrying out their search in the area.
Rehman was chargesheeted by the NIA officials accusing him of JMB to wage war against India and Bangladesh. He was involved with Burdwan town blast case in 2014 where two people were killed and others were injured. He was a close associate of senior JMB leader Jahidul Islam and other leaders like Rahamatullah SK and Moulana Yusuf. He is said to be an active member of JMB, Bolpur Module in West Bengal and has attended several training camps conducted by JMB.
