U T Khader calls I-T raids on DKS ‘politics of vendetta’

Mangaluru, Aug 3: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U.T. Khader has termed the Income Tax raids on D.K. Shivakumar as politics of vendetta.

He told presspersons here that the BJP has been misusing the official machinery to target Mr. Shivakumar as he is hosting Congress MLAs from Gujarat in Karnataka. The MLAs felt unsafe in Gujarat in the run up to the Rajya Sabha elections, for which BJP is responsible, he added.

If the Prime Minister is really concerned about eradicating corruption, let him pass the Lokpal Bill, Mr. Khader said.

Impartial probe into Kavya’s death

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U.T. Khader on Thursday said everyone should facilitate impartial police investigation of the death of Kavya Poojary, a student of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri.

He told presspersons here that no one should attempt to create confusion among the public, that too, persons unconnected either with the deceased or the educational institution.

Otherwise, the institution would be put in bad light. Mr. Khader also said there is a need for counsellors in educational institutions to guide students at the hour of distress. He would discuss the issue with the Education Minister, he said

Bengaluru, Jun 5: An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter Scale jolted Karnataka on Friday morning while another with a magnitude of 4.7 was felt in Jharkhand.

The tremors were felt in Hampi (Karnataka) and Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

According to NCS, the aftershocks were felt at 6:55 am in both the places today.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has deployed a COVID-19 infection control "surveillance team" to look after travellers coming from other states.

Those coming to Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural Districts must undergo a 14-day home quarantine.

The Bengaluru Mayor today inaugurated surveillance team at Dr Raj Kumar Glass House.

Deputy Mayor Ramamohan Raju, Health Standing Committee Chairman Manjunath Raju G, Special Commissioners D Randeep, Manjunath, Superintendent of Police Mr Murugan and other officials were also present in the event.

There are 7,944 coronavirus cases in Karnataka including 2,843 active cases and 4,983discharged. 114 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in the state. 844 positive cases were reported in Bengaluru Urban and 39 in Bengaluru Rural.

Mangaluru, Feb 14: Police have submitted over 50 videos in a pen drive to Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha as evidence to violent protests that led to police firing on December 19 in which Jaleel and Nausheen died.

ACP and police nodal officer Belliyappa submitted a pen drive consisting over 50 video clips including CCTV footage. 

The police earlier had submitted 20 digital video recorder (DVR) before the court and an acknowledgement of the same was produced before the Magistrate.

Hearing on video evidence will be held at High Court on February 24.
