UAE: DKSC hosts grand coastal family mulaqat

Sharjah: The grand coastal family mulaqat hosted by the UAE National Committee of Dakshina Karnataka Sunni Center (DKSC) on Jan 1 attracted a large number of expatriate families in the Gulf nation. The celebration started at 10 a.m. at Ayesha Wedding Hall situated at the Sharjah’s Maliha Road.

Abdul Latheef Mulki welcomed. DKSC Ajman Unit’s honorary president Abubakar Madani Kemmar inaugurated the ceremony and made the participants to understand about the objective of Mulaqat.

Mohammed Iqbal Kannangar explained the activities of the organization. Syed Bafakqi Tannal, honorary president of UAE National Committee inaugurated the valedictory function through Dua after the Magrib prayers. M E Muluru, the Vice President of UAE National Committee presided over the ceremony.

The Central Committee General Secretary Ismail Haji Kinya commended in his speech the activities taken up by DKSC in UAE. Hatheem Kulur, Vice President, UAE National Committee, made the introductory speech.

DKSC’s senior counsel Haji Mohiuddeen Kutti Kakkinje spoke and wished all. The chairman of the Mulaqat reception committee Janab Abdul Latheef Mulki, Syed Asghar Ali Tannal, General Secretary Mohammed Iqbal Kannangar, central Committee members Abusalih Kannangar, main sponsor of the programme Mohammed Anwar of B A Thumbe Woodworks (Mohiuddeen), Zainuddeen Bellare, Baseer Boluwar and others were present on the podium.

Genral Convener of fhe Family Mulaqat S Yusuf Arlapadavu welcomed one and all. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competition events. Ummar S M and Kamal Ajjavar distributed the prizes.

Lucky draw was conducted out of the gathering of 850 participants in which Razi Ismail Muluru was selected for the sacred Umrah pilgrimage.

A march past was held with the national flags of India and UAE. Mohiddeen Kutti Kakkinje and Basheer Bolwar led the march past. National anthems of both countries were sung melodiously.
Duff, a traditional art of Muslims, was performed under the leadership of Abdul Raheman Santyar and Hasanabba Kolnad.

Various Islamic competitions to the children were conducted under the leadership of Abdul Rahaman Sajipa. Rahim Kodi, Nizar Madani, Khasim Madani, Shafi Sakhafi Karimbila and others joined hands to conduct these competitions. Singing, quiz and drawing competitions for children were held in hall No 2.

Various competitions for men were held in the open field under the supervision of Nawaz Kotekkar and Ummar S M. Samad Birali, Rafeeq Mulki, Gafoor Farnagipet, Rizwan, EK Ibrahim Kinya, Ismail Barood and others joined hands in conducting the events.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.

Riyadh: Cricket Lovers are all geared up for the newly launched franchise based tournament - Kingdom Premier League (KPL) 2020 under the banner of Mangaluru Cricket Association (MCA) Riyadh.

SAQCO –SAAD AL QAHTANI CONTRACTING is the Mega Sponsor for the event and PARAMOUNT is the CO Sponsor.

The 6-team tournament is being played at MCA Grounds on Exit 18 in Riyadh beginning from 14 Feb and shall end on 20 March.

The Opening ceremony took place on AL-Mas Restaurant in Riyadh. The trophy launching as well as Jersey launching took place at the same event. Guests from various companies including SAQCO were present.
