UAE, Aug 8: The alumni/alumnae of India's two prestigious institutions - St Aloysius and St Agnes Colleges and Schools of Mangaluru, during their informal gathering held in Dubai recently, unanimously appointed veteran Vincent and Rosetta Pereira as the new chairpersons for the Aloysians and Agnesians respectively for the forthcoming 2017 reunion.

Agnesian1Vincent, an experienced and talented leader, who had been the founder president of Ferarites –UAE, vice-coordinator of SMKC Dubai and also the chairperson of Ferarites Global Event, and Rosetta, his wife, a talented sportsperson and renowned theatre artiste will surely boost the alumni movement in the UAE for the forthcoming combined reunion of both the institutions next year.

During the gathering, Wilson Samuel and Mariel Andrade, the past chairpersons for Aloysians and Agnesians thanked the committee members for their support for the previous event and also urged them to render their support for the newly-appointed chairpersons.

During this kick-off meeting various issues were discussed pertaining to the event and an action plan was put in place. It was also tentatively decided to hold the alumni/alumnae reunion on February 17, 2017. The exact date and venue will be notified during the coming months.

The popular alumnae/alumni meet which is being held bi-annually since 1997 is an excellent opportunity for the past students to meet and catch up. The event attracts large numbers of former students and their families scattered around the UAE and other Gulf countries.

During this gathering, a farewell function was also held for committee members departing to India. It was a nostalgic moment as their dedicated committee members Ronald D'Cunha, his wife Aboline D'Cunha and Joyce Menezes, who had been the backbone of the organizing committee since its inception, were bid farewell. These members played a key role in the success of the past events and with their departure, the committee will be at a loss to fill the void. The committee thanked them for their efforts and wished them good luck in their future retired life in India. A momento was presented in appreciation.

It is also worth mentioning that the founder and brain behind the alumni initiative in the UAE - the veteran Jerome Pereira, will also be leaving the UAE shortly to India after decades of stay here.

Further details on the reunion will be published in the coming months on daijiworld.com, which will be the official media partner for the 2017 event.
