Kasaragod, Aug 31: After unseating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Karadka grama panchayat through a UDF-LDF supported no-confidence motion recently, an LDF-backed Independent was on Thursday elected new president of the 15-member local body.

Anasuya Rai got elected garnering eight votes — LDF (5) and UDF (3) — against BJP nominee and ousted president G. Swapna, thus ending the 18-month rule of the saffron party in the local body.

In another development, UDF Independent nominee B.K. Vinod Nambiar was elected vice president beating BJP nominee M. Gopalakrishnan. Mr. Nambiar received support of eight members against Mr. Gopalakrishnan's tally of seven.

The grama panchayat governing body led by the BJP was dislodged through a UDF-sponsored no-trust motion supported by the LDF members on August 2 last.

Cogratulations to UDF + LDF for throwing out sangh parivar member.   There sghould not be a single sangh parivar candidate in our God's own land.  We are one regardless of our religions.  These chaddis are trying to sow hatred in us.  Let us unite and fight these illogic chaddis and make our state free from chaddis.   Same thing should happen in other states also and hope it will be soon.
