Udupi, Jul 17: A teenage girl committed suicide after she learnt that she had failed in the SSLC supplementary exams at Kadtala hamlet coming under the Ajekar police station limits in Udupi.
According to the police, Harshitha (16) had failed in the SSLC examinations held this year.
Hence she had applied and appeared for the SSLC supplementary exams. But when the results of the supplementary were declared, she had failed in it.
She went to her house and committed suicide by hanging, police said.
Bengaluru, Jun 18: Examination for PU II English paper, which was postponed for more than three months due to threat of Coronavirus, was held on Thursday across the state.
The authorities were forced to postpone the examination of the English subject, scheduled in March, abruptly due to the threat of Covid-19 which spread like wildfire and has so far claimed lives of more than 100 in the state.
There are over 1,016 examination centres across the state. All the students were put to thermal scanners and were ensured wearing face masks. Each centre has sanitisers. Those with cold, cough and fever were assigned a separate room.
Mangaluru, July 28: A screenshot of a death threat message against IAS officer Sindhu B Rupesh, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, is now going viral on social media.
The threat comes in the wake of the Deputy Commissioner’s warning against attack on cattle traders by anti-social elements ahead of Eid al-Adha.
It is learnt that a discussion was held about DC’s warning in a pro-Hindutva WhatsApp group. The death threat was issued in the same group in Tulu language.
A police officer said that if the deputy commissioner doesn’t lodge a complaint, the police will file a suo motu case in this regard.

Info Edge (India) announced that Zomato Media (Zomato) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Uber's food delivery business in India (Uber) in an all-stock transaction, which gives Uber 9.99% ownership in Zomato.
Uber Eats in India will discontinue operations and direct restaurants, delivery partners, and users of the Uber Eats apps to the Zomato platform, effective 21 January 2020.
Upon closing of said acquisition, the company's shareholding in Zomato shall stand reduced to about 22. 71 % on fully converted & diluted basis.
