Udupi, Jul 17: A teenage girl committed suicide after she learnt that she had failed in the SSLC supplementary exams at Kadtala hamlet coming under the Ajekar police station limits in Udupi.
According to the police, Harshitha (16) had failed in the SSLC examinations held this year.
Hence she had applied and appeared for the SSLC supplementary exams. But when the results of the supplementary were declared, she had failed in it.
She went to her house and committed suicide by hanging, police said.
Mangaluru, Mar 30: Police on Monday registered a case against a man, who, after return from Dubai, had failed to adhere to lockdown guidelines of house quarantine.
The case was filed by Assistant Commissioner, Puttur, Dr Yathish Ullal.
The man, who returned from Dubai on March 21, had a seal on his hand and was supposed to stay at home for 14 days, but was seen roaming around the city, hence he was taken into custody and a case registered.
Mangaluru, May 12: The Karnataka government has ordered that Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts be considered as one unit for the movement of people to undertake permitted activities between 0700 hrs to and 1900 hrs.
Principal Secretary and Member Secretary, Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, T K Anil Kumar, in an order, said that there was no need for different passes for commuting by people between these two districts.
However, people should carry their identity cards issued by their respective enterprises/ companies to show that they are carrying out permitted activities only, he said.
Bengaluru, Apr 30: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, has directed the Bengaluru City Police to return all the vehicles, which were seized during the Coronavirus Lockdown period, for having flouted rules.
The City Police Commissioner, Bhaskar Rao, informed that it was decided to return the seized vehicles to the owners, after verifying documents.
He said that the vehicles had been seized while enforcing strict guidelines, issued to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, in the city.
