Udupi, Apr 16: A teenage girl in Udupi district has committed suicide due to depression after failing the II PUC examination, the results of which were announced yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Prajna, 18, a resident of Nadumane village in Udupi’s Hebri. She was student of Arts stream. She had secured above 60 per cent marks in five of the six subjects and failed in one subject – Kannada.
It is learnt that the girl was under shock after checking her result online. Unable to face the family members and society, she hanged herself with a saree from the ceiling fan in her house.
A case has been registered at the jurisdictional Hebri police station and investigations are on.
