Udupi, Mar 5: A 35-year-old man from Bannumane village in Sagar taluk died of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as monkey fever, at a private hospital at Manipal in Udupi district on Monday.
Chandrappa was suffering from high fever and giddiness, and had pain in the legs since February 27. He was initially treated at the Primary Health Centre at Aralagodu village in Sagar taluk.
Rajesh Suragihalli, District Health Officer, said that he was taken to the private hospital in Manipal on March 2 after his condition worsened.
However, he failed to respond to treatment and died. As many as 13 persons in Shivamogga district have died of KFD since December 2018.
