Udupi Parba, adventure festival to promote tourism in coastal district

Udupi, Nov 28: General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure will be organising a three-day adventure festival in Udupi from December 29.

Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries Pramod Madhwaraj on Modnay addressed the preparatory meeting on Udupi parba and Udupi adventure festival. The estimated cost of the adventure festival is Rs 60 lakh.

The minister said that Udupi Parba and Udupi adventure festival will be organised for three days from December 29. The General Thimmayya National Academy Of Adventure will organise national-level swimming in the sea, speed wall climbing, marathon, cycling, skateboarding and other adventure sports.

To introduce traditional coastal cuisine, there will be food stalls at the Udupi Parba. An attractive fireworks display will be held on the concluding day.

He said that the Udupi parba and adventure festival is being organised to promote tourism in the district. Sub-committees have been constituted for the success of the programme.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: Continuing easing of restrictions under 'unlock-1,' the Karnataka government has allowed shooting and production of films and television programmes in the state.

In a clarification, Principal Secretary Revenue N Manjunath Prasad said, shooting and production of all films and television programmes that were stopped in between due to lockdown can be allowed.

It is also allowed to continue with the post-production activities of film and television programmes after completing the shooting, it said.

The permission is conditional as it is subjected to adhering of the national directives issued in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, and standard operating procedures prescribed by the Department of Information and Public Relations.

The clarification said permission can be given as film and television shooting and production activities are not banned under guidelines issued by the centre and the state government recently.

Mangaluru, Jul 7: The residents of Bangle Gudde, Mathadagudde area in Gurupura Gram Panchayat in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, where two teen aged children were buried alive, were shifted to safer places.

District officials said on Tuesday that the residents have been provided temporary shelter in Gurpur school, PU college, and hostels, while few others were shifted to Ashraya centers. Total 40 houses out of 180 houses in this area located in the red zone were damaged due to heavy rain.

If the residents want to stay in the rented house, the revenue department is ready to pay a sum of Rs 2,500 towards rent, official sources said.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Kempegowda International Airport and checked all measures taken by authorities and doctors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Till date, 45 people have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus infection across India.

A resident of Bengaluru was tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.
