Udupi: Prathvik Nayak, alumnus of ISS Dammam scores 97% in PU science

Udupi, May 1: Prathvik Nayak, a student of Vidyodaya PU College in Udupi has scored 97% in science stream in Karnataka PU examinations, the results of which were declared yesterday.

He is the son of Mrs. Ramesh Chandra Nayak and Vanita Patkar, residing Shirva, Panjimar, at Udupi district.  He is the former student of International Indian Embassy School Dammam (IISD). 

Prathvik Nayak has got 100 out of 100 in Mathematics and Chemistry, and 99 out of 100 in Physics.

The college principal and teaching staffs praised Prathvik Nayak for his outstanding achievement and appreciated the efforts put on by his parents. 

Mr. Prathvik, said that he would take up engineering and will prepare to give his best for the NEET results.

Bengaluru, Jan 28: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday warned the officials that strict action will be taken against the officials, who demand bribe from beneficiaries in various schemes.

Speaking after distributing the regularising letters to around 1000 people belonging to the Backward class in government lands, Mr Yediyurappa said the government was itself coming to the doorsteps of people.

“Officials will visit door to door to distribute the regularization letters and if any officials demand bribe bring to the notice of the government which will take action against such persons,” he said.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: As the stage is set for the ground-breaking ceremony for Ram temple construction at Ayodhya on Wednesday, retired Supreme Court judge N Santosh Hegde has called for the promotion of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence and respect for different faiths.

"It is a good idea to make that as an object of the temple so that there can be peace in the world," the former Solicitor General of India said when asked if the temple should be promoted as a symbol of national integration, and social and communal harmony.

Hegde said one of the most dangerous things for conflict today is religion. "In that background, there should be some effort from somebody or other to bring about peaceful coexistence, respecting each religion," the former Karnataka Lokayukta told PTI on Tuesday. "It is a good idea to start Bhumi Pujan as an indicator of that or foundation for developing harmony among various religions," he added.

The Supreme Court had in November last year paved the way for the construction of a Ram temple by a Trust at the disputed site of the Babri Masjid's demolition in Ayodhya. It also directed the Centre to allot an alternative 5- acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a new mosque at a "prominent" place in the holy town in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government has allotted a five-acre land in Dhannipur village in Sohaval Tehsil of Ayodhya for the mosque's construction.

Hubli, May 2: Around 1400 migrant workers from neighbouring districts, working at brick manufacturing factories in Hubli were sent to their respective districts on buses, amid coronavirus lockdown on Friday.

Dr Purushottam, Nodal Officer, COVID-19 task force said, "Total 1473 labourers from eight neighbouring districts, working in the brick manufacturing units of our district were sent by 74 buses. 876 labourers are from Kalburgi where we are sending 44 buses, 350 labourers are from Vijaypura where we are sending 27 buses."

He continued saying that 20 persons will be accommodated in a bus while maintaining social distancing.

"Before the labourers boarded, the buses were disinfected. NWKRTC officials took a special interest in doing so. The District Collector has written letters to the concerned DCs regarding shifting of labourers in every bus, one Nodal Officer will handover them to the local officials," Dr Purushottam added.

On Friday, the buses were sent to seven districts and one bus will be sent today.
