Udupi, Oct 15: Nearly 30 months after a 13-year-old boy went missing from Manipal in Udupi district, the police have managed to trace him with the help of Facebook.
Prem Kumar aka Kiran (13), the adopted son of Sridhar K Amin, a resident of Hudco colony at Ananthnagar in Manipal, had left home on January 20, 2015 saying that that he would go to the MIT grounds in Manipal to play. Since then he was missing.
Amin then filed a complaint with the Manipal police station. According to police, was not inclined in studying for long. He wanted to earn his own income and settle in Mumbai.
As the teenager was active on Facebook, the police team led by DCP and Anti Human trafficking Cell officer Rathnakumar were able to trace him with the help of Cyber Crime department, Bengaluru.
He was handed over to his parents. In his statement, the boy said that as he was disinterested in continuing studies, he ran away from home. He worked in hotel in Mumbai to make a living. He was not kidnapped, and the decision to run away from home was his own.
