Mangaluru, Apr 25: A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with severe injuries after an unidentified miscreant stabbed him in an alleged murder bid early on Monday morning.
The condition of the injured, identified as Nasfal, a resident of Ullal, is out of danger, sources said.
It is learnt that he was waylaid and stabbed at around 4:00 a.m. when he was riding his motorbike towards Mangaluru fishing port.
A case has been registered at jurisdictional police station. More details are awaited.
Bengaluru, Feb 5: New Tulu movie Pingara has bagged the NETPAC International Jury Award at the 12th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festial (BIFFes) on Wednesday.
Written and directed by Preetham R Shetty, the movie revolves around people who worship daivas (spirits) of Tulu Nadu.
The narrative goes back and forth in time, to tell the story of a family to Sinchana (Chaitanya Chandramohan), a journalist from Bengaluru who visits a village in Tulu Nadu to ‘write on Tulu culture.’
The film speaks about the caste system in Tulu Nadu and the struggle for land in the post-independence period.
Bengaluru, Feb 20: The poultry industry is facing losses amid rumours of the discovery of a chicken infected with coronavirus in Bengaluru.
DK Kantharaju, president, Karnataka Cooperative Poultry Federation said, "Karnataka is facing losses of Rs 60 to 65 crores. The consumption percentage has also decreased by 30-35 per cent".
Atiq, a meat seller, said, "Because of coronavirus people are scared. But I want to say that chicken is safe to consume here. All this fear is caused due to fake news on social media."
Another person Abdul Hafeez said, "Chicken and coronavirus are not related. People are scared because of what is being spread on social media. The business has definitely gone down due to fear of coronavirus."
Mangaluru, Apr 4: No positive case of coronavirus has been detected in Dakshina Kannada district as per the latest update released by the district administration on Friday.
Test results of throat swab samples of 16 people with suspected symptoms were received today and all of them were negative.
A total of 38,518 people have been screened for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada district till date with 72 people being screened today.
