Mangaluru, Apr 25: A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with severe injuries after an unidentified miscreant stabbed him in an alleged murder bid early on Monday morning.
The condition of the injured, identified as Nasfal, a resident of Ullal, is out of danger, sources said.
It is learnt that he was waylaid and stabbed at around 4:00 a.m. when he was riding his motorbike towards Mangaluru fishing port.
A case has been registered at jurisdictional police station. More details are awaited.
Mangaluru, Apr 23: An elderly woman who was tested positive for COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada district today breathed her last.
The deceased is a 77-year-old woman from Bantwal taluk.
She is said to be a close relative of the Bantwal woman who died of COVID-19 on April 19.
She was shifted to govt Wenlock Hospital which is now converted into COVID-19 hospital on April 22 from a private hospital.
Her throat swabs were sent for testing. Health and family welfare department earlier today confirmed that she was tested positive for coronavirus.
Within hours she breathed her last without responding to any treatment.
So far 17 corona positive cases have been confirmed in the district including two deaths. Most of them have returned home after recovering.
Bengaluru, Mar 13: District administration in Kalaburagi, where the first death in India due to COVID-19 was reported, has identified over 25 people, who come close to the deceased and quarantined for observation, Minister for Health B Sreeramulu said on Friday.
In reply to a debate on the issue during Zero Hour of the Legislative Assembly, the Health Minister said that two members of the victim’s family and 23 others are suspected of COVID-19.
Mr. Sreeramulu said all the schools of the district have been as a preventive measure to contain the deadly virus.
Surathkal, Jan 4: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have signed agreementsfor joint research and development of technology for application in space, a statement said here on Friday.
As part of the agreement, which was signed by P Venkatakrishnan, Director of ISRO CBPO Division and Prof Umamaheswar Rao, Director, NITK, ISRO will establish the Regional Academic Center for Space (RACS) at NITK.
