Mangaluru, Apr 25: A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with severe injuries after an unidentified miscreant stabbed him in an alleged murder bid early on Monday morning.
The condition of the injured, identified as Nasfal, a resident of Ullal, is out of danger, sources said.
It is learnt that he was waylaid and stabbed at around 4:00 a.m. when he was riding his motorbike towards Mangaluru fishing port.
A case has been registered at jurisdictional police station. More details are awaited.
Mangaluru, Jul 3: A middle aged man killed his wife by pushing her down a stone quarry at Karambaru near Kavoor on the outskirts of the city today.
The victim has been identified as Shanta, aged around 35 years. The accused is her husband Ganesh, aged round 45 years.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The exact reason for the crime is yet to be known. It is learnt that the husband and wife had quarreled before the murder.
A native of Hassan, Ganesh was working as a tipper driver. Shanta hailed from Salethadka in Kasargod. They couple have a son and a daughter. The family stays in a rented house at Kavoor.
Udupi, Mar 11: An elderly woman, who had recently visited Saudi Arabia has been admitted to an isolation ward at KMC in Manipal, here with symptoms of fever, cough and breathlessness.
The 68-year-old woman hails from Sagar taluk in Shivamogga district of Karnataka.
The patient had travelled to Saudi Arabia in the last week of February and was treated for fever cough and breathlessness there.
After recovery, she had travelled back to Bengaluru, where she was screened at the airport.
Later, she reached Shivamogga where she was treated at Nanjappa Hospital for symptoms of fever, cough.
As she has symptoms of coronavirus, she is quarantined and is under observation. The samples will have been sent to Bengaluru and the result is awaited.
Bengaluru, Jun 12: All the four candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda (JDS), and senior Congress leader Mallikarjna Kharge, on Friday were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.
Karnataka Assembly Secretary sources here said that all the four candidates, who were in the fray for as many berths, were elected after the last date of withdrawal of candidature ended on Friday.
