Mangaluru, Jul 13: A gang of three miscreants barged into a beef stall at Mastikatte area in Ullal on the outskirts of the city and attempted to murder a youth in the broad daylight on Wednesday.

A severely injured Mohammad Kamaaluddin, 25, son of Nasir, a resident of Alekal, was rushed to a private hospital in Thokkottu for treatment after the attack.

The eye-witnesses have identified the assailants as Arfan, Mitha Nisar and Jafar, the three notorious men, who had allegedly robbed the same beef staff nearly a month ago during Ramadan.

They attacked Kamaaluddin with knife, iron rod and soda bottles and fled the scene before anyone could catch them.

According to sources, the reason for today's murderous attack was that Kamaaluddin had lodged a police complaint against trio and their associates after they allegedly barged into the beef stall in Ramadan, attacked him and other staff before fleeing with Rs 1,200.
Based on the complaint of Kamaaluddin, the Ullal police had nabbed one of the gang members, identified as Mukthar, who is still in custody.

Following this the other gang members had started issuing threats to Kamaaluddin and asked him to withdraw the complaint against them. Arfan's father Jaldi Siddiq, who is said to be a drug peddler, had also threatened to eliminate Kamaaluddin if he failed to withdraw complaint.

Kamaaluddin had reportedly brought this issue to the notice of the local police, who asked him to be careful. However, on Wednesday the three among the accused again barged into the beef stall and attempted to murder him.

When the injured was admitted to the hospital, a few local residents saw Jaldi Siddiq there. He began to ran. However, locals chased for nearly one kilometre and caught him. He was then handed over to the police.

A case has been registered at Ullal police station in this regard and investigations are on.

New Delhi, Jul 27: A month after banning 59 Chinese applications, the government of Indian has now reportedly banned 47 more apps of Chinese origin in the country. According to sources, the 47 banned Chinese apps were operating as clones of the earlier banned apps.

The list of the 47 Chinese applications banned by the Indian government will be released soon.

India has also prepared a list of over 250 Chinese apps, including apps linked to Alibaba, that it will examine for any user privacy or national security violations, government sources said. The list also includes Tencent-backed gaming app PUBG.

Some top gaming Chinese applications are also expected to be banned in the new list that is being drawn up, sources said. The Chinese applications, that are being reviewed, have allegedly been sharing data with the Chinese agencies.

Today's decision follows after a high-profile ban of 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, as border tensions continued in Ladakh after a violent, fatal face-off between the Indian and Chinese armies. The government said these apps were engaged in activities that were prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and defence of India.

A government press release announcing the ban stated: "The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking it's power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the emergent nature of threats has decided to block 59 apps since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order".

A day later, Google said it has removed all the banned applications from the Play Store. Following the ban, TikTok refuted the claims that suggest it will pursue legal action against the Indian government for banning the app in India.

Reacting to the 59 apps banned by India, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said the country is "strongly concerned regarding the decision of the Indian government".

“China is strongly concerned, verifying the situation,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

"We want to stress that the Chinese government always asks Chinese businesses to abide by international and local laws-regulations. The Indian government has a responsibility to uphold the legal rights of international investors including Chinese ones," Zhao Lijian said.

India on Sunday witnessed annual solar eclipse or 'surya grahan' 2020, the third eclipse even for this year after first two lunar eclipses took place in January and June and the last annual solar eclipse of this decade.

The solar eclipse started from around 9 a.m. across the Indian map as the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth came in a straight line, and the country witnessed the 'deepest' annular solar eclipse in over a century.

Astrologers said it a fourth super rare hybrid eclipse which is a mix between an annular and total solar eclipse.

Areas like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi, Patna, Shillong and more witnessed a partial phase of the annular solar eclipse from 9 a.m.

In the eclipse, the distance of the Moon and Earth will be larger than usual which means the moon will not be able to cover up the sun fully and will leave out the borders of the sun - giving an appearance of a "Ring of Fire".

Press Information Bureau in a tweet informed that it is the last annular solar eclipse in India of this decade.

People can catch glimpse of the partially covered sun between 10 a.m. and 2.28 p.m. as per the time differing as locations in India. The eclipse will continue for over three hours covering 84 per cent Sun.

There are three types of solar eclipses - total, partial, and annular.
