Bengaluru, Nov 22: The Union government has nominated U T Khader, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, as member of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
He is one among its six members. The first meeting of the governing council of the BIS is being held in Delhi on Wednesday.
The Bureau of Indian Standards Act – 2016 came into force on October 12, 2017. The BIS rules framed under this act have also been notified in the official gazette.
In a message to Mr Khader, BIS Director General Surina Rajan said: “We expect that BIS would continue to benefit from your wide experience and valuable guidance in pursuing objectives and achieving its defined goals.”
