VHP urges Modi govt to ban 'immoral' ads, shows

Mangaluru, Dec 30: Raunchy ads and bold TV shows and web series are in the line of fire of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. On the concluding day of its three-day Central Council meeting held in Mangaluru, the VHP expressed its strong reservation against "immoral advertisements" and shows and demanded a ban on them.

"There has been a deterioration of Hindu values in the society, which has resulted in the incidences of women being targeted," noted a VHP statement.

"Some television shows... immoral advertisements and films have also been one of the reasons for today''s situation in the society," it said, urging the government to strictly deal with such serials, webseries, and advertisements and even "ban them".

The VHP said such shows and ads are contributing to creating an unsafe atmosphere for women. "In Hindu society, women are worshipped and are not treated as commodity," it said.

The VHP has also demanded that the benefit of Article 29-30 be extended to all communities, including those practising Hindu faith. The VHP claimed that the discrimination is based on appeasement.

Talking about alleged appeasement, the VHP for the second day in a row has lashed out at the Andhra and Telangana governments. It claimed that the taxpayers money is used to find salaries of minority priests.

On Ram temple, the VHP has decided to hold nationwide Ram Utsav next year. The decision has been made to celebrate it in all villages, said the VHP.

"VHP has decided to hold big Sabhas in every village and mohalla of our country. It would initiate programmes portraying the life and principles of Lord Ram which need to be inculcated in today''s society," said the VHP.

In the three-day VHP Central Council and Pranyasi Mandal meeting, many delegates from the UK, USA and Asian countries participated.

Various points related to the Society, Nation and Hindu Dharma were discussed.

"We strongly object to paying salaries and other emoluments to ''moulavis'' and Christian priests with funds generated by the Hindu taxpayers. On the other hand, things have been made expensive for Hindu pilgrims," alleged the VHP.

Spike in covid-19 cases in Kerala; 19 including 3 in Kasaragod test positive

Kasaragod, Apr 21: Kerala reported a spike in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 19 people testing positive, after a decline in the numbers in the past few days, as the total infections touched 426 in the southern state.

Kannur recorded 10 cases, Palakkad four, Kasaragod three and Malappuram and Kollam one each, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters here.

The number of those getting infected were in single digits over the past few days.

Of the 10 positive cases from Kannur, nine of them had come from abroad and one had been infected through contact, he said.

Pointing out that the positive cases in Palakkad,Malappuram and Kollam had come from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Vijayan said there is need to enforce strict vigilance in places bordering neighbouring states.

Sixteen people tested negative on Tuesday, while the total active cases 117, he added.

At least 32,000 people are under observation,

Of the around 20,000 samples sent, 19,440 had returned negative, Vijayan said.

Resolution in Kerala Assembly is against unconstitutional Act passed by Centre: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly is against the "unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre".

"The resolution passed by Kerala Assembly is against the unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre. It has been noticed by the whole country," Vijayan said.

The Kerala Assembly had on Tuesday passed a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Before the resolution was passed against the Act, Vijayan in a special Assembly session targeted RSS and said that citizenship law is part of an agenda.

"The CAA is part of an agenda. Muslims are being considered as internal enemies by RSS, who is controlling the ruling dispensation at the Centre," he alleged.

The new law grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday while talking about women safety, the Chief Minister said, "Those women, who are traveling face many problems, particularly regarding accommodation. To address this, government will start accommodation facilities in all towns. This project will be implemented with the help of local bodies."

Reacting to the development in the Kerala Assembly, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Assembly has insulted the Constitution and parliament by passing a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The Constitution has delineated clearly the roles of parliament and state legislatures. When people who have taken an oath of the constitution, destroy it, it is a most irresponsible act. Both the houses of parliament have passed CAA and if a state assembly tries to hijack the Act it is an insult not only of the constitution but the parliament as well," Naqvi told news agency.

MPs are taking oath to respect and safeguard indian constitution and not to disrespect it and go agaisnt the teachings of constitution. What Central Govt has done is 100 perent agaisnt the constitution and every citizen has the right to oppose this. You are definately go with the Govt as you are paid for it. But dont force other too to follow you. What Kerala Govt has done is according to will of people and Central Govtr should respect it.

Haj Bhavan is now 400-bed Covid Care Center; 50 patients already under treatment

Bengaluru, Jun 25: In the wake of unexpected surge in the coronavirus positive cases in Bengaluru, the special task force team assigned with the task of creating Covid Care Centres (CCC) has made elaborate arrangements the Haj Bhavan.

Civic authorities have already shifted around 50 Covid-19 patients to Haj Bhavan.

BBMP Commissioner B H Anil Kumar said on Thursday that due to an increase in the number of cases and due to shortage of beds in hospitals, the Haj Bhavan has been converted into CCC.

Headed by Rajendar Kumar Kataria, Secretary, Horticulture and Sericulture department, the CCC task force has arranged 400 beds at Haj Bhavan.

“The facility at Haj Bhavan has already been made operational. Doctors, nurses, paramedical and house-keeping staff from BBMP have been deployed as per SOPs. All essential equipment, medicines and other facilities have been made available in adequate numbers at the Haj Bhavan,” Kataria explained.

In the second phase, the task force team has identified hostel rooms of seven engineering colleges, which would fetch about 3,200 beds to house asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.

If need arises, the task team in the third and final phase, will consider the facilities such as Palace Grounds, Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre, Indoor Stadiums at Kanteerava and Koramangala to be converted as CCC.
