VHP urges Modi govt to ban 'immoral' ads, shows

Mangaluru, Dec 30: Raunchy ads and bold TV shows and web series are in the line of fire of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. On the concluding day of its three-day Central Council meeting held in Mangaluru, the VHP expressed its strong reservation against "immoral advertisements" and shows and demanded a ban on them.

"There has been a deterioration of Hindu values in the society, which has resulted in the incidences of women being targeted," noted a VHP statement.

"Some television shows... immoral advertisements and films have also been one of the reasons for today''s situation in the society," it said, urging the government to strictly deal with such serials, webseries, and advertisements and even "ban them".

The VHP said such shows and ads are contributing to creating an unsafe atmosphere for women. "In Hindu society, women are worshipped and are not treated as commodity," it said.

The VHP has also demanded that the benefit of Article 29-30 be extended to all communities, including those practising Hindu faith. The VHP claimed that the discrimination is based on appeasement.

Talking about alleged appeasement, the VHP for the second day in a row has lashed out at the Andhra and Telangana governments. It claimed that the taxpayers money is used to find salaries of minority priests.

On Ram temple, the VHP has decided to hold nationwide Ram Utsav next year. The decision has been made to celebrate it in all villages, said the VHP.

"VHP has decided to hold big Sabhas in every village and mohalla of our country. It would initiate programmes portraying the life and principles of Lord Ram which need to be inculcated in today''s society," said the VHP.

In the three-day VHP Central Council and Pranyasi Mandal meeting, many delegates from the UK, USA and Asian countries participated.

Various points related to the Society, Nation and Hindu Dharma were discussed.

"We strongly object to paying salaries and other emoluments to ''moulavis'' and Christian priests with funds generated by the Hindu taxpayers. On the other hand, things have been made expensive for Hindu pilgrims," alleged the VHP.

Mangaluru, May 7: The Dakshina Kannada District Muslim Okkoota has strongly condemned permit for opening of textile and footwear shops across the district at a time when the number of Covid-19 positive cases are on the rise.

In a press note here on Thursday, former Mayor and Okoota President Ashraf alleged that the permission to open the shops at a time when Eid-ul-Fitr was nearing would lead to rush in the shops in turn bringing in fear of spread of Covid-19. 

He expressed his resentment over the fact that the administration has neglected the appeal made by the Okkoota as well as the Qazi of Udupi against permitting textile shops during the lockdown period.

He warned that the administration, district in-charge Minister, MLA and MP themselves will be responsible in case of increased infection cases due to this decision.

The district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary yesterday had announced that textile shops in the district can be opened from May 7.

The government of India today said it will begin evacuating its nationals stuck abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic from May 7 in a phased manner. This facility would be made available on payment basis. 

A Standard Operating Protocol has been put in place and the travel would be arranged by aircraft as well as naval ships and will be available on a payment-basis, the government said.

"Medical screening of passengers would be done before taking the flight. Only asymptomatic passengers would be allowed to travel. During the journey, all these passengers would have to follow the protocols, such as the health protocols, issued by the ministry of health and the ministry of civil aviation," it said in a statement.

Specifying the protocols upon entry in India, the government said the returning Indians would be medically screened and will have to be quarantined for 14 days, either in a hospital or in an institutional quarantine on payment-basis, by the respective state government.

Bengaluru, Mar 29: The State government launched a mobile application for people to track the movement history of patients, who tested positive, before their detection so that they can take precautions. The app will give the date and time of visit to spots by the patients.

The mobile app “Corona Watch” can be downloaded from Google Playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksrsac.drawshapefile

“The app also has a list of government designated first response hospitals for COVID-19 where citizen with symptoms can go. However, before going to a COVID hospital, people should call helplines — 104, 080-46848600 or 080-66692000,” said a message by Munish Moudgil, secretary, Administrative Reforms, who is also in-charge of the State COVID war room.
